Sea Leviathans

"Sailing into the open seas of the Great Eastern Ocean is a death wish. Better to be safe and hug the coasts. The leviathans don't go near land."
- Seasoned Ship captain charting his route.
Leviathans are a family of large sea creatures of various size and species that are grouped together based on their habitat, the oceans, and by their monstrous appearance. They represent a grave danger to sailers on the northern seas and the great eastern Ocean, where they have greatly impacted eastward exploration into the open sea.

Description

Leviathans come in various shapes and sizes, but all deadly to sailors who cross path with them. Very, very few physical proof of these monsters existance actauly exist, but the thousands of testimonies and the handfull of actual proof paints a very dangerous picture. A monster that was featured numerous times in past testimonies is a enormous squid-like tenticle monster that likes to lure sailors towards it and drown them by breaking their ships appart. Water Dragons also live in the waters of the Great Eastern Ocean and are famous in the nearby coastline communities for directly attacking any ships that sails a bit too far east, which either forces the ships to turn around, or drown. Folklore

"If we sail due south, we could save a week's time"   "Straight south? Through the Leviathan sea? Are you mad?"   "I'm just saying, If we cut time, we'll get better deals at port"   "Better deals with a dead crew and a sunken ship? What's next, you'll suggest we follow the light?
- Two ship mates arguing about travel plans.
Many stories have been writen and recounted throughout the costal regions of Arros and even Enask. The most popular story is titled Do Not Follow the Light Upon the Waves, which recounts a tale of sailors traveling east in search of new land being dupped into following a light on the horizon which turns out to be the lure of a massive creature which breaks their ship and drowns them. As a result, exploration to the east is highly discouraged and even made illegal is some countries.
