The Great Vigil
In every city and in every town there are those who have had their loved ones go off adventuring and never returned. The Great Vigil is a day of mourning and remembrance for all the adventurers who never found rest and never came home.
History
The Great Vigil started in the earliest years of the Nuaira exploration of Omath after the The First Expedition lost members that were unable to be buried properly in Nuaira. During the Era of Embracing (755 CE - 1004 CE) the Nuaira tought the fledgling Ezirandi people of their rituals, and the Great Vigil became a part of history.
The Species of Chaos have been observed holding rituals similar to the Great Vigil, intertwining it with their own rituals and stories of their people who were lost to interloping marauders of the Civilized Species.
Execution
The Great Vigil varies by settlement. In larger cities, it is a ceremony with pomp and flair. In the smaller settlements, the Great Vigil is marked by candles lit in the windows of homes and stories being told of those who never came home.
