Ecepodin
"What is good and evil? Consider the Ecepodins. They either use the cold for family and unity, or use the chill of death to bend the world to their sinister whim." -Jethro the ChroniclerThe Ecepodin (in common, "Ice Wizards") were a zealous groups of mages and clerics found in the lands of Icen and other Gothain territories.
Mythology & Lore
The birthplace of the Dragonborn, legend has it, was the top of the tallest mountain in Icen, Mount Zlaskuh. It is where Bahamut first formed his children out of the snow and ground there, being similar to their cousins, the dragons. However, unlike the dragons, they served a special purpose for their creator: to tap into the magical arts of Talamh and share it with others. Thus, these Dragonborn, calling themselves the Ecepodin, traveled across Eiren to find others to share their secrets.
It would be the dwarves, then the race of humans, they would find trying to survive in the terrible cold that is Icenglav. They took apprentices with these races and also made them into Ecepodin. The Ecepodin would learn how to control the elements of fire and ice to bend the will of nature to their whim. Eventually, the white dragon Mkalikav would find these Ecepodin as a threat to herself and tried to consume many of them. The Ecepodin, however, used their magic to defeat the white dragon and vanquished it. It was the beginning of a new order.
Cosmological Views
To the Ecepodin, the universe itself is engraved in those born with an understanding of magical ability. The dragonborn, they think, were made from pure magic and as such are the most reliant sources of magical understanding. There is a reason so many Ecepodin are dragonborn!
Winter itself is what the Ecepodins think is the closest the mortals can get to the understanding of suffering for the world itself. The snow, as it is white, is the purifier for the weak who cannot live in such harsh conditions. And the snow, as well as fire, can be used to make others suffer or to relieve those of their pain.
Ethics
Most Ecepodins appeal to the law of the land, but considering how they enforce the law, often times they find themselves twisting it to themselves. Consider the Ice Witches, a zealous group of Ecepodins that only seek the arcane for the servitude of evil alone. It is not uncommon to see these Ice Witches to dabble into necromancy as a way to extend their lives as well as show others the "chill of death" as they are so amused to show. Some of the Ice Witches even take upon slaves, manipulate nobles, and commit heinous crimes. A singular Ice Witch, named Hildengrav, finds herself trying to destroy the individuality so prized in the land to make blind servants to herself in Danen.
However, there is comfort in the fact that the most loyal Ecepodins are the servants of the Ice King/Queen. These Ecepodins exemplify traditional values, such as monogamy, hospitality, love for family, and upholding wholesome aspects of life (like work and good food). They tend to caring for fires, try to keep back deadly storms, and starting festivals where drinking and dancing is had. Because of these values, it is not uncommon to see Ecepodins with extremely large families.
Priesthood
The order of Ecepodins don't exactly have a hierarchical structure. It boils down to the idea of a master and apprentice. The master teachers their student for years on how to develop their abilities until eventually the apprentice is able to match their master in terms of power. Eventually the apprentice moves on to learn more abilities and then find their own apprentice.
There is, however, at least one grand wizard: The Ice King/Queen. They seem to hold most of the magical power and knowledge with their enchanted crown, and as such many Ecepodin Masters go to their monarch if they seek a magical power beyond their understanding.
