Gilliam Wulfstan Maydestone
Gilliam Wulfstan Maydestone was an Aarakocra swashbuckler from Ebenwald. He was primarily active in the year of 1A 5689, where he and a group of four other adventurers battled the Knights of Black Dragon.
History
Early Life
As an Aarakocra, Gilliam was hatched from an egg on September 23rd of 5684, 1A. His parents were immigrants to Lysandus, being pilgrims from the harsh Danen-controlled Dragonscale Mountains. Unfortunately for Gilliam, he somehow got separated from his parents in the large city of Ebenwald. He became an urchin and developed a career in stealing and learning how to use the blade. Treasure became his greatest priority, and now with the ability to stretch his wings and fly, it became easier for him to nab it.Will of the Dragonlords
Still seeking more money, Gilliam made his way south toward the lands of Lisanrik. He found an advertisement for The Lazy Loafer Bakery while staying Feller's Rock, and met up with Riley Woodhame, Wulfric Cisboren, and Slytoff Han. They arrived on May 8th in Silver Town, stopping at the Silver Chalice Inn for some drinks. Gilliam participated in Slytoff's magic show to get free rooms. The next day, he and the rest of the party helped deliver a wedding cake to Castle Foswell. Gilliam would fend off Black Dragon goons, using his bow and arrow to take them out. That night, he also helped protect Lord Foswell's daughter from an assassination attempt. Eventually, the party went off to find Sir Edward, the man behind the attack. He would witness Riley staying up late in the forests of Caleah near a lake, though he was uncertain what was going on. He tried to pester Riley for the truth, but Riley refused to say a word. He would witness the new warlock to use his powers to wipe a spider from the face of the earth. The party would proceed to a Black Dragon camp, in which Gilliam helped slay a wizard there and looted with Slytoff. The journey was not over yet. They were led to Urshlon Tower by Seldwig Lightfoot. Gilliam took out an archer by hiding in a tree. The party then charged into the base, being overcome by enslaved orcs. They fought them off valiantly, but another wave of Black Dragon goons forced them to flee. They would return that night, defeating the new goons. However, Slytoff's spell alerted the sorceress Qenlynn Millerstone in the tower, leading her to throw a fireball toward the party. They would survive, but Sir Edward, now coming out of the tower, required battle. Gilliam picked off the goons while the party fought the evil Sir Edward. He tried to fire an arrow at Qenlynn, but her scaly skin somehow knocked it back. Looting the tower, Gilliam uncovered an Immovable Rod and other treasure with the party. Then, they took a portal in the tower, which teleported them to Grace's Wonders. They confronted Lady Grace, who tried to give them bad deals. He told her off. The party would then return to Lord Foswell with the head of Sir Edward, and Gilliam bartered with the lord to give them more reward for killing tons of Black Dragons. Then, getting a tabard of the South Star, the party returned to the Silver Chalice Inn.Investigating the Black Dragons
The next night the party proceeded to steal into Grace's Wonders, with Gilliam doing a good amount of sleuthing with Slytoff. He uncovered a secret passage in the second floor, and helped fend off an Animated Rug and a Mimic from killing Slytoff. Then, he and the rest of the party looted gold. They hurriedly escaped from the building as Slytoff set it ablaze. The next morning, the party would be arrested, but a defense from Slytoff and Riley saved them from going to prison. In town, Gilliam would recognize a thief of the Scarlet Scarves, and warned the party about them. Gilliam and the party went to Feller's Rock and went into a Kobold mine. They cleared out the kobolds and fought an illusionist named Kilroy Mancer. Unfortunately for Mancer, a Half-Dragon he tried to release betrayed him. The Half-Dragon was a mutated human named Galafred, who wanted to be cured. The party would return to Feller's Rock, and found Lord Wickam was under a spell by Percival, a Whispers Bard. Riley and Slytoff got injured in a fight with Percival and hypnotized guards, but Gilliam slew Percival in a sneak attack just in time, releasing Wickam and the guards from the spell.Sources:
