until slain by a mighty champion.

Gromherjek the Ancient Green, also known as the "Kin-Eater", was a ferocious ancient green dragon who terrorized the lands of Lisanricia in the 44th century.

History

Early Life

Many do not know when he was born, only that it was around 500 years ago. According to skaldic legend, the dragon Gromherjek was born with a twin within his egg, which he immediately devoured after his birth. For this, he was reviled by his mother Gromhaja for his cannibalism. He was thus shunned from his draconic clan and forced to live out in the wilderness in the forests near the Dragonscale Mountains. In these forests he devoured yetis and great dire wolves to survive, growing in power and wisdom in his anger.
As he grew, the ferocious dragon prowled beyond the Dragonscale Mountains into the dwarf lands of Lisanricia. He attacked dwarf settlements around the regions of west Lisanricia, taking his plunder back to his lonely nesting grounds along the Lake of Westimer. He became subject to the attacks of rangers, but he ignored their power and instead consumed them. He became a great bully to the people of Lisanricia, growing great and fat. Evidently, this was when he met his bride, a terrible green dragonness named Klanwen, who roamed the lands in search of food and treasure as well. He embraced Klanwen as his own, and together they laughed in their own terribleness. They had many wyrmlings, and for a while lived in peace with their great horde and family.

Move to the Danelands

Evidently, the Dwarves got tired of Gromherjek's terribleness, and so they sent their greatest knights to slay him. When Gromherjek was away from his lair, great knights of men and dwarves slew his bride Klanwen and destroyed his off-spring to protect their settlements. Being merely a young dragon, Gromherjek knew he was no match to the knights. He thus fled to the Danelands, but swore vengeance towards all those in the lands of Lisanricia for destroying his love and his children.
Over the Dragonscale Mountains he landed near the lands of Blutenwald, which was ruled by a great Ice Giant named Kuulgremish. With a great plunder the giant made Gromherjek envious of his wealth. Thus, Gromherjek challenged the ice giant to a duel. Kuulgremish felt the battle was going to be easy, but with magic and trickery the great dragon Gromherjek slew the giant. He stole his treasures, and took the palace of Blutenwald as his own. The Danen lords who served Kuulgremish thus devoted themselves to their new dragon overlord.
Gromherjek ruled in bitterness, devouring any of his servants to merely looked at him wrong. He longed back for his bride Klanwen, but knew not the ways of necromancy. All he could find comfort in was with gold and the blood of men. Yet these things did not satisfy his feeling of longing. No matter the plunder the Danen kings gave to him, Gromherjek could not fill the gap of Klanwen within his terrible heart.
Then, Gromherjek met Harold the Horrible in 4330, a great Danen king who brought to him a bounty of choice game, an unusual proposition to a dragon who liked gold. Harold the Horrible told Gromherjek that his father, Ormulf the Old, was slain unjustly by a King of Albion. They sought vengeance for their father, and told Gromherjek that he would be high king of the Albion (with Harold and his brothers submitting to their power), if they helped him destroy the Kells there. Gromherjek growled in bitterness, but ultimately took Harold's bargain as a just reason to destroy the Lisanricians for destroying his family.

The Great Heathen Army

In 4350, Gromherjek arose with the Sons of Ormulf to raid the lands of Lisanricia for their revenge. The Danen made ships in honor of Gromherjek and rowed them across the coastlines of Albion, and began to destroy monasteries and villages. The Albions fought off the Danen forces. Then, Gromherjek turned his attention over the mountains to the great Golden City of the Dwarves. He breathed his hot and fiery poison through the dwarven halls and streets, destroying their city, and then delving into the palace of the Mountain King. There the Mountain King was consumed by Gromherjek, and the dwarves fled the city, as Gromherjek laid upon their bountiful mountain of gold. From the Golden City he commanded the Heathen Army, declaring himself the new High King of Lisanricia.
