History
Background to Dragon Rule
Ever since the dragon Kuchall spilled the first blood of man in the end of the first century, the dragons of Talamh took to themselves to rule over mankind. They proceeded to pick off any human leaders. Some, like the metallic dragons, became human leaders to protect them. Others, like the chromatic dragons, enslaved humans and used them to eat and become their minions. Humans became defenseless against them. This persisted for centuries in the lands of Faraway. The dragon hordes would become the first major human cities, such as Auppur and Potea. The dragons would rule like kings, dictating what humans could and could not do. As human population grew, however, it became harder for many, and they would occasionally eat any dissenters. Some humans, known as the Kellerites, would escape draconian bondage and go to the harsh lands of western Chunc. In 760 1A, an event would change their lives forever. The Kellerites would meet a crew of exploring Hill Dwarves, calling themselves "Babashi". The humans were astonished at their armor and weapons, and thought of the dwarves as gods. However, just before the humans could replicate the technology, the dwarves left. Humans would be stranded and helpless once again in Faraway. One thing they did manage to copy was the boat structure of the dwarves, and improved it immensely. These plans would be taken to Potea. In 850, the Poteans would build a massive naval fleet to fight off turtle dragons, as well as accessing fire magic. It was the first time humans were brave enough to travel through the water. Taking this technology, the Kellerites set out from West Chunc in 910 First Age across the Ocean of Unity. It was a dangerous journey as the humans were met with dangerous storms. However, they survived and managed to make it to the shores of Eiren. The humans, under the leadership of a man named Saewine, would settle and form a small city called Keller's Coast, acknowledging it as their new home. The Road to Liberation
The human settlements started to grow, so they could no longer hide their presence. In 1,000 1A, the Dwarves noticed a small group of humans pillaging some of their crops, and the Dwarves grew defensive. They attacked a human village. The humans fled, succumbing to the superior war tactics of the Dwarves. The Dwarven army captured a few, and brought them all the way to their king, Melekh-Navi. Strangely, Melekh-Navi had compassion for the men. He knew of their history of dragon rule, and thus took it upon himself to teach them the Dwarven ways. He gave them their own copies of the Lawstone, and the humans learned the Dwarvish language and it's symbols. They turned it into proper writing for their language of "common". The Lawstone also showed them advanced governance and military tactics. Taking this information to heart, the men returned to Keller's Coast and shared their knowledge quickly. In 1010 1A, Melekh-Navi would continue negotiations and determined that humans could live in the lands of Northern Lysandus under Dwarf law. In 1020 1A, the humans came under assaults from ravaging Orc tribes. The Dwarves once again had compassion, sharing their secrets of forging iron. The Dwarves would be shocked when the humans developed a cheaper yet durable metal out of this called bronze. With their bronze weapons and armor, they fought back the orcs and brought safety to Keller's Coast. Unbeknownst to the Dwarves, however, the humans would take their secrets out of the Dwarven lands on a ship back to Faraway, as they finally had tools to slay their former masters. Thus would begin the rise of human dominance. The Revolution of Faraway
In 1040 the humans would arrive back in Faraway, and the humans there were astounded by their changes. They were dressed better and wore bronze armor, looking like gods. A secret council would take hold within the years of the decade. Human minions of dragons came together and trained in military and self-governance. After amassing large quantities of weapons and armor, as well as their magical secrets, the Chuncian Kellerites, the Aupperites, and the Poteans banded together to liberate the city of Auppur in 1050. The army invaded the city, managing to slay the ancient green dragon known as Typhon. Auppur would be freed. The news shocked the human world. Were they really capable of overthrowing their tyrannical masters? Now in control of Auppur, the free men brought their armies to Potea and managed to seize control of the navy. They overthrew the red dragon Ladon and the turtle-dragon Borkaiz. This sudden wave of liberation hit the dragons hard, who did not know how to defend themselves from Dwarven war tactics, bronze armies, and the cleverness of men. The dragons would be forced to flee to mountains and dungeons, growing starved and depraved of their hunger for power as the humans ensured they would rule themselves. Never again would the dragons rule the kingdoms of men. Now, humans would dominate the realm of Talamh.
