The Tarrasque
The Tarrasque, called the King of the Monsters, is a creature of nightmares. Said to be five stories tall, this towering monstrosity has been foretold to level cities. However, many in the land of Pung believe it merely to be a creature of legend.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Tarrasque is 50 feet tall according to some estimates, though legends sometimes exaggerate and say it is as tall as a mountain. It is bipedal and has two clawed feet and clawed hands. It has rough scales that protect it from the greatest of blows. In this, many believe it is reptilian, like a crocodile. Upon it's face, there are two horns, and it's jaws are filled with razor-sharp teeth. It also has a long tail that it treats like a weapon.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The mountains of the Great Divide is where it slumbers, unless it is rudely awakened from it's nap. Then... It'll probably be rampaging throughout all of Pung.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Many believe that the Tarrasque's scaled skin is so tough that it has the power to reflect dangerous ranged spells. It's natural armor is stronger than any steel armor that the kingdoms of Talamh can even create, not even the Tamayan steel. The Tarrasque is also said to be able to see past any blindness or darkness, being a foe more formidable than any dragon could hope to be.
Civilization and Culture
History
According to legend, the Tarrasque was the greatest of the Loxelel's monstrous creations. He used it as a pet to wreck havoc on early creation, which annoyed Boldur, the god of creation. As such, Boldur ensnared Loxelel's pet Tarrasque into the mountains of the Great Divide, while Vanu-Am battled off Loxelel and encased him within the island of Demetria.
To the monks of the mountains, those following the earth style of Wu-Guo, the Tarrasque is a sacred creature to be undisturbed, for they believe it's snoring allows earth quakes to shake the lands of Pung and Tallia. They know of only one artifact that can awaken it: the Scroll of Tarrasque, an item hidden in a forsaken Wu-Guo temple in order to stop raiders from taking it. They fear if the Tarrasque is awakened, only the Dragon Emperor can defeat it.
If the Tarrasque ever awakened, the monks of the Wu-Guo say, they believe that it will destroy all of Pung in a rampage and leave nothing alive until it's hunger has been satisfied. Then once it is done eating, it will return to it's slumber and rest for another thousand years until it is hungry again. The Wu-Guo thus try to ensure that nobody gets remotely near the Tarrasque, not to risk awakening it for the first time and starting a vicious millennial cycle.
The Tarrasque, the king of the monsters in all of Talamh. Supposedly it slumbers in the Mountains of the Great Divide, awaiting to be awakened to start it's great rampage.
