Denning Estate

The Denning Estate is technically serves as a sort of consulate building for the North American Werewolf Confederacy. All pack registered wolves on the continent have a membership card to the associated club and are free to arrange a stay in the estate so long as they are able to abide by the rules of the D.C. Metro Area Neutral Zone that forbids any and all pack squabbles in the area. Any party found to break these rules are heavily fined and can have more far-reaching consequences based upon their involvement and severity of the infraction, up to and including being removed from the registered pack list and stripped of all protections and nullifies all treaty agreements with other packs.   The Denning Estate, itself, includes a country club and hotel and houses the three representatives for the continent, each elected from Canada-Greenland, the United States, and Central America. The various island nations are separated politically with some represented with the United States but most with Central America. The fact Canada and the US have essentially their own representative and drown out the voices of the smaller populations in their contingent is a common criticism of the political system, so each of those representatives typically have a staff that are comprised of wolves from the less represented areas of their region, especially from the Caribbean islands and the Indigenous Packlands spread throughout the continent. As such, there is a fairly large number of staff at the estate at all times. These factions have individual large houses in the estate, separate from the public areas to give them appropriate privacy, but they do not typically leave the estate to venture into the DC area voluntarily. Werewolves are still, at their heart, wolves, and do not do well in urban settings. Especially older wolves, which many of these elected officials tend to be.

Tourism

There is a brisk tourist industry to D.C. in general for werewolves, as it is one of the only metropolitan areas that is truly neutral and has many interesting attractions. The estate of one of these, as there is a small museum on the property with various important documents and displays about the history of the Werewolf Confederacy. Many werewolves take the opportunity to visit the estate while they are visiting the D.C. area simply to have a place to run, as public parks in very urbanized areas are not particularly safe to run in. There is also a service which allows for the printing of proper family trees and heritage histories, which is quite popular and one of the major revenue streams for the organization aside from tithes sent from each pack. These are popular gifts for a young man upon joining his hereditary pack, an updated family tree with his name and pack affiliation affixed as a legal document. Upon joining any pack, the new wolf is given a certified copy of the updated pack register with his name.    Predictably, the museum has several pressed penny machines, as well.   A certain amount of all tourism proceeds go to various natural wolf rescue organizations throughout the continent and there are numerous wolf-themed items available in the gift shop, not the least of which is t-shirts.
