The Haunted

A curse that is worse than anything imaginable. The haunted are those who can't escape their past. or is the past can't let go of them. Is it brought on by magic or is it just someone's guilt reaching a tipping point. Many have guilt over their past actions, as we all had to do things that may have tainted us out here on the edge. My sins start back in Salire where I killed a man to save my sis.
That has followed me all through my life and it has only got worse with my failings as a friend and a godfather. Though I try every day not to be weighed down by my guilt. I will not become like those husks who are consumed by the past where they can't even tell they left. Most are put down as it is a waste to take care of them. Others waste away in some gutter.
Even worse are the ones who begin letting their ghost guide them in doing horrible things to themselves and others. I rather drink my self to death than face that fate. Good thing I'm about halfway there already. -Ace Cardia

Causes

One possibility is someone's guilt over their past actions that begin to weigh them down as they can't escape those they harmed. Another link has been to the death corruption and its effect on the dead and the living. Binding those who are more spiritually aware or awakened to those who's lives they have taken.

Symptoms

NIghtmares that cause problems with one's sleep. Voices that they begin to hear while awake. Then they eventually begin to see the ghost of the past. First the spirits and eventually moments. In the end they begin to have a total mental break down as they are consumed by guilt. Though some submit to the spirits and begin to do the bidding of the spirits which end in harming themselves or others.

Treatment

Reconciling their past through the help of others. Paying the debt old to the dead. Or accepting their faults and fixing what led them to take a life. To pay for their sins.
