The Resurgence

The Resurgence is a name given by the followers of the fallen for a ritual they perform some times. This ritual is designed for two reasons that aid them in their grand design. The first is a way for them to create an acolyte of the fallen who has the power and mind to fuffill their purpose of awakening their goddess the Fallen One. It is also used to anoint the sealing crystals in order to begin the releasing of the fallen ones soul. By binding a sealing crystal to a host that host is able to draw on the power of the Fallen One and even commune with them to aid in finding a way to free them from their prison.

History

The Resurgence was first performed not by a follower of the fallen, but by another individual who sought a way to save someone from the fallen corruption that would errode a person's mind and body. This person whould dabble in the forbidden and figure out a way to deal with the corruption by embeding a sealing shard in their loved one. This worked thanks to the individual figure out a way to weaken the seal and allow it to both infuse the user with the power of the fallen one allowing them to control the corruption.
At first everything was fine till they started to hear the voice of the Fallen One and they realized their great purpose as the first true acolyte of the fallen. They would learn their saviors research and even ask for them to join them as the second. Though when they refused they simply left as neither could ever harm the other. The First Acolyte would then perform the actions done to her and convert it into a ritual sacred to their new purpose. With the Second Resurgence being the true birth of the cult of the fallen one in the modern era.
