Marilena's Gallery

A single piece of art can touch many, inspire, build connections between strangers, and help to find common ground among enemies, as they appreciate the art before them. Sadly, there are many things that can befall an artist and spoil their work. Wars, looting, theft, vandalism. Even the simple minded can turn a thing of beauty into something reviled. Marilena, a noblewoman with an affinity for art and culture, built a massive gallery to hold her collection in with her portion of the inheritance. Soon, however, she began spreading her views, and looking to the horizons of her kingdom for new art. Foreign sculptures of strange gods and unspeakable beasts were purchased and shipped, and tapestries depicting legendary figures were carried in. Paintings from local dignitaries, and portraits of those in the neighboring lands could all be found within. Pain, joy, forgotten faces, and concepts all aligned her walls. However, despite it being a personal interest, she began to see how it could strengthen the bonds between her people and those without, and so opened the gallery to the public, and welcomed all manner of people within.     Today the building has gone through several major changes. No longer a spearhead in diplomatic discussions, it now acts more akin to a museum than a true art gallery. There are a few armed guards, from many backgrounds and cultures, paid to guard over the ancient portraits. Many teachers, amateur artists, and those willing to take a moment out of their schedule to try and learn from all ages can find a place of refuge and solace here. Inspiration, along with meals and drinks, are abundant, and personal growth takes places.

Design

A large rectangualar room holds all of the art, separated by small wooden dividers. There is real seperation, or divides between the art, though there is many historical context for each piece, written out for the people to learn. The outside has many overhead coverings and seating areas, allowing for people to enjoy the day and the weather while performing the arts.
