The Apetarium
The eccentric nature of the Apetarium, or Ape House draws many from the mainland and surrounding isles. Laughter is heard all around as the guests watch the massive gorillas play on the palicades, and run through the enclosure. Sometimes these great apes will come close, and interact with those that have traveled far to see them. Their only motto is 'All are Equal', especially in the Ape House.
Violence of any kind is forbidden of course. All carried weapons are taken by a humourous-looking orangutan, who wobbles towards the guests as they arrive, pulling a cart. Although it may seem untrained, it expertly handles each weapon with an air of entertainment. These weapons are placed on its cart and are then taken away. Once they are deemed safe to enter, two identical massive wooden doors are opened.
Purpose / Function
The purpose of this building was to show a sign of neutrality. The isles are kept afloat through spite and foolish ambition, and the founder of the Ape House wanted to make a lasting difference. Her dreams for a united people were the foundation, and every brick laid was in honor but one of the many tragedies. The Ape House was to make a common ground between long-lasting enemies.
Alterations
When it was first built, the building was quite small and relatively contained. There were the first seedlings, a small pond was built, and a large seating area was built on the western wall. To draw in greater crowds the building was built further, allowing for a maze of wooden bridge-like walkways above the apes.
Under the current leadership, eight additional rooms have been built on the eastern wall, jutting out slightly high above the tallest of the seats. Plants are grown on the underside of these, creating the illusion of just being part of the foliage. These rooms, though small, contain comfortable chairs, curtains, and a steady stream of news and secrets.
