The Tranquin-Coryzan War

"We were all on the bridge when the news came through. I was briefing the crew - making a speech - about... I don't even remember what now. But when those comms came through, and we heard that word - 'Deceased' - I remember that perfectly. The silence that followed.

Fifty souls aboard that vessel, and you could have heard a pin drop."

- Councillor Dilivren Zhane, mentor to the Anchor of Coryza.

The Conflict

Prelude

Two members of The Masked Council were captured by the shirren and kept as hostages, demanding access to Tranquinian farming technology, heavily desired by their queen. The two tranquinian council members were killed when the diplomats sent to make the exchange refused to hand over blueprints that were previously agreed upon by both parties, trying to instead negotiate different terms.

Battlefield

The war took place entirely in the Coryza system, mainly on its planet, Nakkri. A lot of the battles in the war took place out in the desert landscape, but the Tranquinian army had a tendency to strike the shirren where it would hurt the most; targeting the farmlands and mining establishments.

Conditions

War conditions in Coryza were hard. The Tranquinian military suffered due to lack of familiarity with the barren environment, and only with Ferven joining in war, did many of the Tranquinian forces receive the necessary equipment, such as specialised titanium storm shields to protect the soldiers during prominent "junk storms" that occur in Coryza as a result of equipment left by the shirren eroding over time and getting caught by strong winds to create tornado like conditions.

Outcome

  • A peace treaty was signed between the allied forces and the shirren.

  • The shirren have lost a total of two space stations, both of which are now considered Ferven territory by Abbadon station law.

  • Tranquin agreed to compensate the shirren for the burned and otherwise destroyed farmland, whilst the shirren were forced to pay war reparations to both Tranquin and Ferven in yearly instalments.

  • The prisoners of war taken by the shirren were returned to their respective homes as part of the treaty.
