Perillon
Perrillon is considered a truly beautiful and wonderous city. It is the capital of Cornum, and the seat of the Tarramein province. Its population during the last census was approximately 53,000 souls.
But this isn't what is unique, strange and amazing about the city.
Perrillon is made almost entirely of crystal, glass and brass. They call it the City of Sound, The Glass City, and of course, the city that never sleeps, as the crystals never seem to be truly quiet.
Navigation throughout this city is much like you'd expect, complicated and endless as a massive capital city will be, but it isn't like any other city in the world.
In Perrillon, you use your voice, instruments, and the various crystals of the city itself to navigate. Each crystal resounds a specific note, and with each street being constructed near a specific crystal vein, each are navigable this way. As you travel down streets away from the crystal main, the pitch will be higher or lower, and this is how people find specific addresses. Sounds are commonly captured via magical messages in stones, anvilwroughts, and other small magical beings to convey addresses and directions in the city.
In fact, most maps of complicated directions look closer to a sheet of music than a map at all, which is thanks to the military minds in control of the city's defense. They figure if the enemy couldn't navigate the city, then they'd have an easier time defending it and keeping the damage small and scattered.
The heart of the city is a large, round, amphitheatre. The center of this is a low stage of the finest whisper crystal, which will pick up the actor's smallest noises so that even the highest furthest seats in the theatre might hear the whole performance. It is considered the pinnacle of musical success- to be invited by the kings or queens to this venue is of the highest honor, and many a young Cornum musician keep this goal as a dream. This amphitheatre is a magical feat of architecture as well. It was not only built so that every person in the theatre might hear even the smallest detail, but also manufactured so that the rest of the city may hear the performance, especially if it is music.
Because it is difficult to navigate, there are a whole slew of people that work simply by showing tourists around the city, and boy does the city have anything you could ever want!

Most citizens of this country believe in the Divines, as well as Tsuijizo, and his worship is in the majority of temples and performances. There are richer and poorer people of the country, but there are very few homeless, and even fewer orphans without homes or purposes. There are no noble ranks, however, there is a form of distinction between people--that is your measure of Skill. It can be in any of the branches of the arts, but it is a test through any government sanctioned school of renown to prove your skill in the instrument, art, form etc of your choice. Once you've been assigned a Skill rank, you may display it how you please, and it is equivalent to your standing in society. You may retake the test annually. This is also a common 'coming of age' practice among the young folk of the region.
There are more musical, art, dance, and humanities based artisans and masters in this city than anywhere else in the world, and they like to be proud of that fact. You can learn other crafts in this city, but the arts are most highly regarded.
