Time in the City

  • Time in the City is an emulation of time as it was Before.
  • When the City was first founded, it started with the Gregorian calendar system. As time has passed, the calendar has gradually developed into its own, to fit existence underground.
  • Moon cycles and seasonal changes can no longer guide the people, so they have little social or practical significance.
  • What are the key characteristics of the new calendar?
  • Less reliance on celestial body movements
  • Significant events from Vampire kind incorporated
  • Some human holidays and events preserved - mostly religious holidays City history recorded and celebrated
  • Conveniently structured around Blood Harvest Seasons --major factor in city planning. Blood Harvest Festivals celebrate the start of each of these seasons. Four seasons total?
  • Most historical landmarks from the World Before not acknowledged
  • What about clocks? Are days still 24 hours? Yes. Days and weeks are structured mostly the same, but Day and Night are now referred to as Wake Time and Rest Time. (To rename later.)
  • Humans and Vampires function on the same schedules, so if we looked at it from the World Before's perspective, Humans are now awake at night in order to coincide with the vampires' schedule.
