Light Pendant

A Vigil's Light Pendant is what binds them to the First Star and grants them power. It extends the lifespan of the Vigil, unlocks some of their latent powers, grants them a familiar, and represents their team. The pendant is magical and is always attuned to the Vigil. If the pendant is more than 30 feet away from the Vigil, it will teleport back to the Vigil.
The pendant cannot be destroyed by mundane means; only powerful magic can destroy a pendant, resulting in the destruction of the Vigil bound to it. A pendant, or pieces of a destroyed one, can be used to resurrect a Vigil under rare circumstances through powerful magic.

Teams

A team's Light Pendants will have roughly the same design across team members. They will not be identical, often distinguishable by color and minor details, but an onlooker should be able to tell that two Vigils are of the same team by their design.   There are Vigils who have jumped between teams or joined new ones over time, especially if their original team was split or destroyed by darkness. In such cases, their pendant will alter its shape to fit the new team, but will always retain a piece of their original team’s design.

Familiars

All Vigils have a familiar of some kind tied to their pendant. The pendant may represent its familiar as well as the Vigil through its design; wing shapes, patterns, pawprints, etc may decorate the pendant. This pendant houses the familiar and acts as its demiplane.
The pendant can be used in place of the metal rod required for the spell Plane Shift in order to teleport to the Familiar's demiplane, if it is ever desired.

Dark Pendant

When a Vigil falls, the soul within their pendant is removed, turning it into a Dark Pendant. The pendant will change to reflect this fall, often adopting darker colors or sharper details. Sometimes, the familiar inside is trapped, removed, or otherwise inaccessible; otherwise, the familiar is also altered by the fall. This alteration can be as simple as a color change and a different demeanor, or as drastic as a monstrous fusion between Vigil and familiar, resulting in Umbral Terrors.
