'Well, this isn't what I expected.' thought the male as he wondered where he was. The scene shifts to a teenager that had a baby face, darker-toned skin (he was black), and wore blue robed duster, grayish pants, ankle white socks, and brown shoes. He looked like something out of one of those fantasy novels. Adujusting the glasses on his face, he squinted his eyes and he looked around, confused. "This is strange," he muttered absently. "I was just heading back to my dorm after hanging out with Cammy at the cafe." He crossed his arms and closed his eyes to continue thinking. "How in the world did I get here?" The dark-skinned individual went by the name "J", as he keeps his name secret from his peers, and he was what you'd call a sorcerer! Wizard. Virgin boy that attracts unicorns. Technically, he was a sorcerer in training due to having the potenial to use magic and goes to a school to suit his needs so he or anyone with magic doesn't cause damage to the "normal" world that people are used to. Magic is considered fiction in any world and the place J is from, that mindset doesn't change among people. You'd think the place is like Hogwarts or something assine, it's not. He's been used to the comparison of that fictional book for his 16 years being in the world. There are similar points to the notion but it's not correct comparison. For one, the students don't use wands to activate their magic, it's instinctive. Or at least access to the flow of magic called mana, which is used for magic and shaping it with imagination.
Also one can use magic with their hands, to make a rune with the spell type, or one of the hardest forms is using only their mind and creating a spell. He has studied the basics for 6 months in his world, and sadly still in the lowest tier. Thought not for a lack of trying. With that last thought, J decided it was better to start walking and find some shelter. 'This place is one I don't recognize...if I was in one place and in another, that could only mean...' "I've been issekai'd into another world?" the teen spoke bewildered as Truck-kun wasn't even involved! This was not in cards, even with magic, that concept is still a big deal being sent to another world, like one of those anime's he liked watching when not studying. Holding out his hand, a tomb the size of a hand appeared; this was his book of spells that were catergorized of ones that he has mastered. And it wasn't a lot.
"Fire...water, floating. Combo of lightning and water. And spactial magic I have, but not enough to get me to advance to the next level or get out of this mess." This was a problem since he was almost through half the year and spatial magic seems like it's a big thing, he couldn't figure out why he chicken out in tests to progress.
'Even with magic, I'm not going to survive without food and water. And this place,' he looked around and it was nothing but trees, bushes, some random deer and-!
J paused at seeing something not of this world! It was a sharp-toothed deformed being which could only be- "A demon!?" He exclaimed! The demon growled as he took a step back. Sure, you'd think a being outside reason wouldn't be a problem for a magic user but he was still a teenager with feeling, not some repressed Jedi working through issues. Taking a breath he had to recall his training, utilizling his spell , the book floated in front of him as he conjured his staff for defense; it's apperance was long with a curved emblem with a bluish gem in the middle. Focusing his energy, an aura radiated from his body and his brown eyes took on an almost etheral white.
"En Garde!" He uttered.
Unknown to the trainee magic-user, a man with spiky white hair, a red trenchcoat, steel toed shoes, was on top of trees scoping out the battle about to happen. "Okay kid," he muttered. "Let's see what you can do?" *Fight starts* ***
The fight ended in a victory for J, as what was left of the demon was a smoldering pile of ash. Taking a couple of breaths, he was exhausted. It was much he got invovled in fights in any capacity, let alone one-on-one. Being a sorcerer would get in conflict if diplomacy failed, J had only studied in books and Cammy was usually his training partner, but she always went easy as spite his aloof personality, he did get scared at times. Well, it was more being perceived which terrifed him. The book and staffed vanished from his person; if they weren't needed, they were kept in a space-pocket, the fictional universal deal if you need transformation pens, hammers, swords, and what have you. "Sigh, I think Cammy would be satified with that." He muttered, showing off a smile. "I'm not that weak." "I would say you are average at best!" A voice said. Looking up surprised that someone was there, J saw a figure leap from the trees, and land effortlessly in front of him. "I gotta say, wasn't expecting seeing a mage in this place." Eyes widening at being called what he is, J kept his calm, to the best of his ability. "Sir, you know what I am?" "Sir? Aren't you polite?" A smirk appeared as he continued talking. "You used magecraft in a way I never saw before. How's that possible?" "Magecraft?" J answered perplexed. He could have sworn he heard the term used in something he watched before but couldn't figure it out. "If you mean, magic, yeah, I can do. I guess you watched my fight to make that assessment?" 'Impressive. With his way with words, sounds like he's calm with giving responses. Rin could be more polite.' Archer ruefully thought. "I did, and like I said, average at best. Was that your first fight?" He was slightly annoyed with being called "average" but J had to take it in stride. "It was in a way. Never thought I'd fight a demon..." "Besides how it appeared, how'd you figure it was a demon?" Inquired Archer. Figuring it was no point being coy, J responded. "It's aura was dark. I spoke unconsciously I guess? I think my magic instincticly figured it out and I responded as such?" He sounded aloof with the explanation. "Also, sir, you aren't a regular human. Your aura has an intense deal." Blinking with suprise, Archer had to smirk once again. It was what he was good at. "You'd be right, kid. You ever hear of something called a 'Servant'?" J shook his head. "Servant? You serve someone?" A frown soon appeared. "Not really. Level with me, you aren't from this world, right?" "I'm not. Same with you as well?" Nodding, Archer continued. "I won't go into full detail but let's just say, I'm a janitor of sorts and want to see how this whole deal goes." "You mean we aren't the only ones here?" J asked inquistly. "I haven't seen anyone in this forest except the now deceased demon and you."
"I'm posivite there are others here, we just haven't found them yet." Archer responded easily. "Anyway I know where there is some civilization and heading that way." he pointed a thumb to the right of J. "What you planning on doing?" "Well, I want to find a place to stay and since you are here, I might as well go with you." J said easily with a small smile. "You don't seem bad, anyway." Archer raised an eyebrow. "Whatever skill you have, it's getting annoying." "It's nothing magic related, sir. I'm just observant." J said smiling fully; he looked like a fox with closed eyes for the moment until he went back to his normal face. "Anyway, my name is J." "J?" Archer asked. "Yeah, I go by that nickname for a reason...could you just call me that?" The teen asked trying to keep a polite facade, though Archer with his keen eyes could tell there was something more to it. Given he's not one to intervene in anyone's business, he accepted with a nod. "My name is Archer." "Archer? You use a bow and arrow?" J asked. "Guess you'll have to wait and see, kid." "Kid??? Dude,I'm 16!"
"And yet you don't look it, so kid." J gave a smile at that. "I get that a lot. Okay, Archer, let's see what awaits us!" And that's how J and the one named Archer met. Soon, they would bump into another duo. How it will end up, is for another story.
*Ben's possible prolouge for J* The scene fades in on a forest with Archer on the left side of the screen with his eyes closed.
Archer opens his eyes.
A: Strange... /n it doesn't feel like I was placed here as a counter guardian, so how did I get here?
Archer's eyes move to the side.
A: Also where IS here?
The screen flashes and the sound of a spell firing is heard. Archer has a shocked expression as the flash fades away.
N: At that moment, a beam of magical energy whizzes by Archer's head. Strong as it was it missed completely. /n Archer turns to look at the source of the attack.
A silhouette of J's avatar appears.
J: Shit shit shit shit SHIT!
A: Hello there!
J: Ahh!
A: Am I to assume you cast that spell? It was suitably powerful if a little inaccurate. /n Why don't you come out so we can talk?
J: ... /n (Ok, I can do this. I can do this.)
The silhouetted image of J becomes clear, his facial expression somewhere between terrified and trying to keep his cool.
J: And what would we have to talk about?
A: For starters, why you tried to take me out just now?
J: That? Oh, it was just a warning shot. Trying to show you who you're dealing with in this game we're playing.
A: (He's lying. He missed, and I don't think he has enough mana for another shot like that. /n Still maybe he knows something)
A: Game? And what kind of game are we playing?
J: Oh you know, the fight for your life in a dark scary forest kind of game. Are you sure YOU know what YOU'RE doing?
A: (He has no idea what's going on, he is just trying to get info out of me. I think this has gone on long enough)
A: You have no idea what's going on.
J's face turns more dejected.
J: Eh?
A: You're stalling for time and looking for answers.
J: ...
J's face turns angry.
J: OK, what do you know about what's going on?
A: Sadly I'm just as lost as you are.
Js face turns more neutral.
J: Then I guess that's all we need from each other.
A: I suppose.
Js sprite fades from the screen.
A: ...
A: (If I let him go he's going to end up throwing more spells at innocent passers-by)
A: Hey wait!
Js sprite returns to the screen.
J: Yes?
A: why don't we go together? Where both lost, maybe if we combine what you know and what I know we can figure out what's going on.
J: And why would I travel with you?
A: I could protect you, that way you wouldn't have to throw any more "warning shots"
J: And what would I have to guarantee you wouldn't attack me when my guard is down?
A: I can give you a solemn promise that I won't attack you.
J: (... He seems like he means it)
J: OK fine. Come on, our first step should be to get out of these woods and find civilization.
A: Right behind you.
