Crystalite Elements
Crystalites are typically considered to have one or two permanent elements, which are based on the natures of their original biome and their animal and plant inspirations. Exactly what the elements are called, and how finely they may be subtyped, varies across cultures.
In general, there are four basic categories that elemental subtypes can be divided into:
Water // Liquid
frequent subtypes include Freshwater, Saltwater, and Ice
Land // Solid
frequent subtypes include Earth and Flora (which can be further broken down into Wood, Foliage, Flower)
Wind // Gas
Light // Ray
frequent subtypes include Fire and Lightning
unlike the other primary types, this category includes subtypes that are characterized by a lack of light: Shadow and Moon
Water
aquatic creatures, freshwater fish, amphibians, waterfowl, wetlands animals
Sea
whales, sharks, saltwater fish, seabirds, crustaceans
Land
most creatures that live among forests or mountains but not in trees or in caves, flightless birds
Earth
burrowing creatures (rabbits), animals that den underground (foxes)
Sky
flying creatures
Wind
land-bound creatures that live in open areas (lions) or travel extensively (horses) or run very fast (cheetahs)
Fire
tropical or desert-dwelling animals or birds, poisonous or venomous creatures
Ice
polar creatures
Lightning
electric eels, fireflies, bioluminescent creatures
Moon
strictly nocturnal creatures
Shadow (usually but not always fel)
if not fel, then wholly underground or cavebound creatures
Wood (woody plantlife, trees) *
arboreal animals
Foliage (green plantlife) *
some insects (aphids, stick bugs)
Flower (including fruit and mushrooms) *
specialized creatures like fruit bats and hummingbirds
* Usually used when a plant is a visible part of a crystalite; rarely indicates the animal portion.
