Ceri Selby
My name is Ceri Selby, and I've always been fascinated by the dance of electrons. At 29, I'm a passionate Electrical Technician, and my journey through the electrifying world of electrical engineering began in the small town of Temecula, California, where I spent my childhood. The sunny days and clear skies provided the perfect backdrop for my early explorations into the world of electronics.
I was the curious kid who couldn't resist taking apart the family television or any other gadget that crossed my path. My parents often found themselves with a collection of disassembled appliances, much to their amusement and occasional chagrin. But it was those moments of exploration that ignited my fascination with all things electrical.
My parents recognised my passion early on and encouraged it. They bought me books about electronics, enrolled me in science clubs, and patiently answered my never-ending stream of questions. My father, an electrical engineer himself, became my mentor and shared his knowledge with me. The intricate dance of electrons soon became a language we both understood, and it brought us closer together.
High school was a time of discovery and experimentation. I was constantly building circuits, from simple LED blinkers to more complex projects. My teachers recognised my talent and guided me towards a future in electrical engineering. It was during this period that I realised I wanted to make a career out of my passion.
After high school, I pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. My time at the university deepened my knowledge and honed my skills, and I was exposed to the latest technological advancements in the field. I felt like I was where I belonged, among like-minded individuals who shared my passion.
Upon graduation, I stepped into the world of work as an Electrical Technician. I enjoyed the hands-on aspect of my job, fine-tuning complex circuit boards and crafting intricate solutions to electrical problems. Each day brought new challenges and exciting discoveries, further fuelling my passion for the field.
In my free time, I continued to experiment with electronics. I'd build intricate circuits, experiment with renewable energy sources, and take on DIY projects. My home became a haven for various gadgets and experiments, much like the laboratory of a mad scientist, except with a more organised chaos.
But life is about balance, and I've found it through my family. I met my charming wife, Eliza, during my college years, and we've created a loving family together. We have two incredible children, little Maya and Alex, who remind me of the importance of cherishing family moments.
My love for nature and the outdoors has been another constant in my life. I'm an avid hiker, and I find solace in the serenity of nature. It's these moments that help me recharge my spirit and find inspiration for my electrical innovations. I also believe in giving back to the community, so I volunteer my time to help local schools teach kids about science and technology, igniting the same passion in them that I discovered in my youth.
Life has thrown its fair share of challenges my way, but I've come to see every obstacle as an opportunity for growth. Whether I'm troubleshooting a tricky electrical issue or nurturing the bonds of family and community, I'm on an electrifying journey to make the world a brighter place, one circuit at a time.
