Chewbathia

According to the lore, after New Edinburgh was founded by the Stewart sisters, the city quickly flourished, and the sisters set out on an ambitious campaign to conquer the vast desert lands. As they expanded their influence, they encountered fierce resistance from various nomadic tribes and other settlements in the region.   To counter this resistance, the sisters realised that they needed a centralised military hub to coordinate their operations and maintain control over the surrounding territories. This led to the establishment of Chewbathia as a separate military base and training facility for the New Edinburgh army.   As for the origin of the name "Chewbathia," it's said to have been inspired by the Scottish heritage of the founding Guardians. "Chewbathia" is believed to be a corruption of "Culloden," the site of a famous battle in Scotland that took place in 1746. The Stewart sisters, being Scottish themselves, chose the name as a way to pay homage to their ancestral roots while also distinguishing the military hub from the main city.   Despite being a separate entity from New Edinburgh, Chewbathia remains closely tied to the city, serving as an important component of its military and strategic infrastructure. The elite warriors trained at Chewbathia are some of the most skilled and disciplined in Clivilius, and they play a vital role in protecting New Edinburgh and maintaining its dominance over the surrounding territories.   The Chewbathian military provides protection for New Edinburgh's trade routes, which are essential for the settlement's economy. The military also helps to secure new territories and protect them from potential threats, such as rival settlements or dangerous wildlife.   In addition to military support, Chewbathia also provides valuable resources for New Edinburgh's industries. Chewbathian metals and minerals are highly sought after for their strength and durability, making them ideal for use in tools, weapons, and machinery.   Chewbathia has a distinct military structure that is separate from the civilian government of New Edinburgh. The military is led by a commander-in-chief, who oversees all military operations, and a high council, which advises the commander-in-chief on strategic matters.   The rank of Chewbathian Hunter is an elite position within the military, reserved for highly trained and skilled soldiers who have demonstrated exceptional abilities in combat. Chewbathian Hunters are responsible for carrying out special missions, such as reconnaissance, sabotage, and assassinations.

The key leaders in Chewbathia include:

Commander-in-Chief Duncan MacGregor - A veteran warrior who has served in the military for over 30 years. MacGregor is a skilled tactician and a charismatic leader who is respected by his troops. He is responsible for overseeing all military operations in Chewbathia.   High Councillor Ewan McLeod - A former Chewbathian Hunter who has risen through the ranks to become one of the most powerful leaders in the military. McLeod is known for his cunning and strategic mind, and he advises the commander-in-chief on matters of military strategy.   Captain Siobhan Campbell - The leader of the Chewbathian Hunter unit. Campbell is a skilled fighter and an expert in guerrilla warfare. She is responsible for training and leading the Hunters on missions.   Lieutenant Hamish MacDonald - The commander of a Chewbathian tank battalion. MacDonald is a bold and aggressive leader who is known for his daring maneuvers on the battlefield.   Sergeant Fiona MacKenzie - The leader of a Chewbathian sniper team. MacKenzie is a patient and meticulous soldier who is renowned for her marksmanship skills.   The military in Chewbathia is deeply rooted in Scottish tradition, with many of its customs and practices modelled after those of the Scottish Highlands. The soldiers wear kilts and tartans, and they often play bagpipes and other traditional Scottish instruments during military ceremonies.
