Xolldo

The inception of Xolldo, the now-infamous capital of the Portal Pirates, is a tale woven from the threads of desperation, cunning, and the unyielding will to survive. Founded in the year 1017, Xolldo's origins trace back to a small band of thieves, each with a story marked by chance encounters and choices that propelled them onto a path few would dare tread.

The Birth of Portal Piracy

Driven by survival, the founders of Xolldo turned to the Portals. These gateways, overseen by Guardians, were lifelines for settlements, connecting them to Earth and ensuring a flow of supplies and resources essential for sustenance. Observing the patterns of these Guardians became a skill as critical as any form of combat or stealth the thieves possessed.   They became shadows at the edge of light, spectres waiting for the moment a Portal would activate, heralding the arrival of a Guardian laden with goods. These ambushes were calculated and swift, leaving little chance for retaliation. The settlements, accustomed to the convenience of stockpiling resources near their Portals, unwittingly contributed to their own vulnerability. The Portal Pirates, as they came to be known, exploited this convenience, striking with precision and vanishing into the ether from whence they came.

The Founders of Xolldo

Rina: The de facto leader of the group, Rina's charisma and quick thinking often turned the tide in their favour. Her past, shrouded in mystery, was punctuated by a sharp intellect and a knack for devising strategies that ensured their raids were successful.   Kael: The muscle of the group, Kael's prowess in combat was unmatched. His towering presence alone was enough to deter most, but it was his loyalty to Rina and the cause that truly made him indispensable.   Jorn: The tactician, Jorn's understanding of Portal mechanics and Guardian schedules made him a valuable asset. His analytical mind could predict the most opportune moments for their raids, minimising risk and maximising reward.   Selene: The heart of the group, Selene's empathy and understanding of the settlements lent a degree of conscience to their actions. She ensured that their raids, while necessary for their survival, never crossed into wanton cruelty.

The Rise of Xolldo

From these humble and dark beginnings, Xolldo grew. What started as a makeshift camp evolved into a sprawling capital, a haven for those who lived in the shadows of society. The founding principles of survival and cunning fostered a community that thrived on the fringes, a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of its people.   The legacy of Rina, Kael, Jorn, and Selene is etched into every stone of Xolldo, a constant reminder of the city's origins and the indomitable spirit of its founders. Over centuries, the tales of their exploits have become the stuff of legend, inspiring a new generation of Portal Pirates who navigate the complexities of inter-dimensional piracy with the same cunning and bravery as their predecessors.   Xolldo stands as a monument to their success, a city born from necessity, elevated by ambition, and sustained by the fierce loyalty of its inhabitants. The history of the Portal Pirates is a narrative of adaptation, survival, and the relentless pursuit of freedom, no matter the cost.

The Council of Shadows

In the annals of Xolldo's storied past, the founding of The Council of Shadows marks a pivotal chapter, solidifying its transition from a loose collective of renegades to a structured dominion of power and influence. Established in the year 1057, forty years after the city’s inception, The Council was the brainchild of visionary leaders who recognised the need for governance amidst chaos. These founders were not just thieves but pioneers of a new order, each bringing unique strengths and backgrounds to the table.
