Detective Lahey rescues a lost duck from a cat, only to be attacked by a goose, resulting in her accidentally shooting the bird.
While exploring the barn's exterior, Detective Sarah Lahey became distracted by a small black cat stalking something in the underbrush. Following the cat out of curiosity, she discovered a lost duck trying to find its way to a nearby spring-fed dam. Sarah intervened, shooing the cat away and gently guiding the duck towards the water.
However, as she revelled in her good deed, Sarah was caught off guard by a sudden, forceful impact against her backside. A large, aggressive goose had launched an attack, sending her tumbling into the mud at the edge of the dam. In a moment of primal instinct, Sarah raised her gun defensively, accidentally firing a shot that struck and killed the goose. The incident left her shaken, feeling a mix of relief, guilt, and disbelief.
