Raidensburg

Written by Oniwanbashu

Raidensburg was established initially as a cliffside port and entry into the region before experiencing rapid, technological growth that swiftly turned into into the gleaming technological, political and commercial capital of Rexinar   It covers an aread of 450 square miles and is divided into six major and one minor district   Raidensburg’s flag bears seven stripes (for each of its seven districts) and a Kilowattrel (the national bird, also known as the 'sea raven') on a shield clutching thunderbolts in one foot and a scroll in the other signifying power through wisdom

Infrastructure

Tall spires dot the cityscape, each one rigged to attract and catch lightning from the frequent thunderstorms that take place at the city due to the mix of hot air from the land and cold air from the sea. This protects those at ground level during these weather events, and directs all energy collected to the city's main grid located underground in a refurbished massive, old aqueduct. Electricity is funneled to inland districts and countries from there.   Public transport is common, due to the lack of land required to accommodate high numbers of personal vehicles (most vehicles you see on the streets are cabs, e-hailing, first responders or public works). A combination of cable car and light rail transit efficiently services all the residents along steep streets, while trams are utilised on streets with gentler slopes.   Public or low-cost housing and hostels common among blue collar workers in the fishing, manufacturing and mining industries come in the form of townhouses or entire apartments carved into reinforced cliff faces and mountainsides. While the earthy, rough-hewn facade may suggest uncomfortable dwellings, these homes stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and many of those who have lived here since childhood prefer cave homes rather than concrete and steel abodes in the city. As such, they have become increasingly popular options for the middle class as well.
