Desert's View
A small town, only a few kilometers south of the Devil's Divide, that takes up a small clearing in the Rain forest Region. It's local area is perfect for landing small craft, and it's position south of The Divide makes it perfect to set up a temporary base for the Codai Military. As such, a small base has been established here. A no-fly zone is in effect north of this city, and the monitoring station established here is responsible for leading in visiting aircraft.
The town itself is many years old, originally established as a potential method to cross the divide. After it became an essential staging point on the journey across the desert, it's profits boomed. The town expanded, and briefly became a city. However, this would soon end - as the Codai Majorus construction project began, many ships of civilizations that survived would land - hiring those around the region to begin work on their project. In exchange, many towns received Gravcars and, in exchange for military use, airfields for the use of simple aircraft. Crossing the divide became a commercial task, rather than an individual one, and as such those who wished to trade or travel would simply take a plane.
The death of it's major economy lead to the city shrinking, then becoming a town, and now as it is today; a small village - barely inhabited. It's many empty buildings lending itself well to those who pass through, but never providing the comfort to stay. Being this far from civilization, on the edge of the most deadly place on the planet, and so deep into the marshes of the Rain forest, it is far from inviting.
Demographics
Those living at Desert's View are typically rather poor. They have become a small hub for Codai Military activity following the ignition of the local Civil War. Other than the military presence, the local population is typically consistent of laborers and metalworkers, who provide local towns with weapons and equipment.
Government
The town hosts a Mayor, who is elected every 5 years. Their position primarily acts to be a liaison between other local settlements, and to set up trade deals. This is exceedingly difficult, as the distance necessary to travel is immense. For that reason, bulk-deals are preferred - transported through waterways and on carts to their destination.
Outside of that, they help delegate public resources and solve problems faced by it's citizens.
Defences
The only formal defenses present in this area are the Codai Military presence. There is no longer any formal defense beyond the town militia.
Industry & Trade
The town primarily deals in food and metalwork, as these were the seeds of the town's initial creation - leading to them producing Artisan-grade work.
Infrastructure
The town contains near-enough everything you would expect on a Tech 2 World - Forges, Simple firearm crafters, even briefly the plan to construct a trainline across The Divide - however the vast majority of these endeavors have been crushed by the introduction of higher technologies by the Government.
What still operates, however, is a bakery - Best on the planet, if you ask the locals. There is also a Blacksmith, a Stable, and many smaller shops. Beyond those, you have your farmland. Below, there is a dedicated sewer system - kept in disrepair beyond the core of the little village. Little else outside of Constables and corner stores is worth mentioning.
History
Initially, the village was established as a staging point to cross The Divide. This would allow the city to grow massively; however it was not to last. As time went on, and what would become the Codai Government provided technology for material, other methods to cross the divide dwarfed the little settlement, and it's expanded projects fell by the wayside, leaving it a shadow of it's former self.
Geography
The town is built into a clearing in a Rain forest, on flat ground - and expansive enough that it allows for Starship access.
Natural Resources
The ground around Desert's View is extremely fertile, and as such they make large volumes of food; farms are well-stocked, and operate on what we would call Combine Harvesters. The ground below the town has not been surveyed, even by the Codai Government, as they refused the Government on the grounds of their destruction of the Town's economy. Besides this, the town attempts to live sustainably.
