Feast of the Wilds

An Uroan style of cooking; this method is a style of cooking spices into a meal while smoking it. The method is as such; in the place of using your regular cooking supplies, like a stove, you set up a piece of equipment referred to as the Standing Grate, or "Gratestove" in colloquial tongue. This is, effectively, a chicken-wire frame to suspend your food from, 4 legs to hold it up, and a bowl for your fuel source below.
The second stage of this method of cooking is to gather up the local moss from around your camp site. This is placed into the lower bowl. Then, this is ignited. Due to the nature of the plants on this planet, they are prone to fragment - these fragments rise on the smoke, coating the meal in a natural spice, which is baked in using the smoke.
Meals cooked this way should be flipped at least once to ensure an even coating. There are several restaurants that use this method, however any local knows that this is a tourist trap only - the essence of this is to do it yourself, in the wilds of the planet.

History

This tradition dates back to the planet's early history. When the trade ships stopped coming by, their planet's restrictive growing with regards to standard crops limited their flavor pallet. The native plants on their own were too strong of flavor to eat, and so this method was devised as a way to both smoke the food, unlocking some deep hidden flavors, and to provide new flavors in very small quantities.
In the modern day, the native plants have been selectively bred to be just flavorful enough for the planet's pallet, and yet this tradition persists. It is common for friend groups to take trips into their local woodlands, and have a picnic with what they can gather as spices. Every meal is different, based on local flora, and so it is seen as a very exciting experience even now.
