The Crown of the World
The northernmost reaches of the world connect with Iobaria in a passage that, while inhospitable, is still a route used by the most adventurous travelers. While life on the Crown is hard, some people have settled and thrived in these lands, mostly isolated from external influences over the course of the last centuries. It's home to several dragons, giants, and other creatures, as well as snow elves, and human tribes.
Geography
The polar continent appears to the untrained eye as a simple block of ice, inhospitable, cold, and deadly. It is, however, rife with underground lakes, forests, mountains, lakes, and deserts. Exploring these parts have proven, however, very difficult, and no consolidated map of the area exists. The locals know the parts well, but are shy to share their knowledge and, for the most, will not draw a map even when offered a good price, saying that paper cannot translate their knowledge.
Fauna & Flora
Firs and other coniferous trees are the most common within the southern circle of the Crown, then it gives way to thundra and smaller crops. Some Iobarian unjustly believes that this means that there is little life here, but that would be an incorrect assumption. Without a strong human presences, animals and plants have been free to thrive and evolve. There are many herds of northern deers and boars, polar bears, large cats, foxes and other animals can be seen, commonly hunted for their furs.
Unfortunately, these lands away from humans also know their share of "undesirable" fauna in the form of undeads, dragons, rhemoraz and other strange yet dangerous creatures that hunt humans and animals alike.
Natural Resources
Fish, seals, berries, and some types of rarer woods are the most common resources in the Crown of the World. There are rumors of rare deposits, but the efforts and risks are, for now, too high for anyone to have attempted this venture.
