The Permian-Triassic extinction event occurs, with over 90% of marine life and 70% of terrestrial life is wiped away. The Mesozoic Era begins with the Triassic Period.

The Elder Things attempt to explore the planet and establish colonies, but the volatile atmosphere and landscape proves more than they can handle. They are ultimately forced to retreat with their colonies outside being destroyed, and the Elder Things return to hibernation.
