The Shield Wall

This war has been deemed to have been made in error, and as such, the Council of Earth hereby orders that all military vessels are to cease engagement immediately and begin travel to Navigational Marker: Sol Progenitus, where new assignment shall be given.   All vessels who do not follow this order immediately, for any reason, will be cut from the Roll of Honor and dissavowed from Earths navy and until time itself ends.   We broadcast this order on open chanels so that the colonies may accept that Earth has admited it'd fault in the conflict, and to make the assertion that Humanity is stiffled by Earths existence and memory. To remedy this, Earth will no longer be accessible to the outer colonies.   They shall all be on their own.
-Portion of the Final Message from Earth, as recorded by an unknown The Fracture War Naval Officers. On Display in the Naval History Museum on Tōgō

While the end of the Fracture War was indeed ideal for the various rebel factions that had sprung up during its decades-long conflict, it is difficult to say that they won other than in the technical sense. The fleets of Earth were not destroyed, and in many cases they were not even scratched. They simply decided to leave the rebels alone for indeterminate reasons.   While it's true that a handful refused Earth's order in an unprecedented show of insubordination, the numbers there are a fraction of a fraction. In truth, most returned to the Sol System when ordered. Once they returned, they would be redeployed as a section of the Shieldwall, also known as Earth's Shell.   You see, suffusing the oort cloud is an intricate web of anti-ship mines, naval guns, armed satellites, entrenched Colossi, and a number of ships that defies estimation. All together, they form an intricate web of overlapping fields of fire and powerful weapons that render entrance to the Sol System as completely impossible.   The only thing that passes through the Shield Wall at all these days, are those that have come from within Sol to start with. Namely, the silent Emessaries of the Council of Earth. They leave and return silently, bearing only the written request of the Council of Earth, who have not been seen or heard from directly since the Fracture War.

The Shield Wall does not give warnings and will fire upon any vessels that come within to-close-a-distance. It is rare that any element of the Shield Wall needs to fire a second time.
