Scale Sculptors

When Dragons once took residence on Colossus there were those that would scavenge their scales after battles, sleeping, or general shedding.   The scales would leak power quickly so these sculptors had to work fast. they were nearly always trained in arcane arts. Using their magic to preserve the Dragon Scales   Each scale could be used to create a single piece of art. A likeness of a person was highly valued as it was said to pass the powers of the Dragon the scale belonged to on to the likeness.   Most went for artistic shapes and designs as the Scale reacted better in their sculpting. Curving swirls, fiery shapes, spiked and smooth, all popular finishes.   All over Colossus there were peoples looking to have these pieces in their houses, or at the presence of their children's birth. Superstitiously hoping the might of the Dragons would pass on somehow.   The desire for the Scales created great wealth for those will to adventure into the heart of Dragon claimed lands.   The Sculptors became hated by the Dragons, who in turn sought out these artists, looking for blood at the insults caused by such primitive creations.   Some Druids would look to bind power to the sculpts to increase their own. Others wanted them destroyed, claiming it gave an anchor to the Dragons allowing them ease of access to Colossus.   When the Dracun Legatus called the Dragons back, thousands of scales were shed and fell. There was a time that the Scale Sculptors were considered the wealthiest people alive.   However, as the power of Dragons had left the world, so it would from the scales. Over time they became brittle and broke.   The life of a Scale Sculptor was no longer lucrative. Eventually none remained, moving their skills into other crafts to make ends meat.
