Storm Blankets

Due to the nature of Kvari and its ever constant elemental storms the people turned to its elders and wise folk to tell them how to protect themselves. But Kvari is a place that forces the individual to dig deep and survive.
But when the storms are relentless it is not easy to just hide behind rocks. Something else was needed, anything the tribes could use and create had to be pooled to give them a better chance.
A sorcerer attuned to lightning spent the majority of their life studying the elemental storms and trying to find the math of how they worked.
Despite failing to find the logic and accepting it was just pure chaos, they did accomplish something, Storm Blankets.
They managed to create a thin veil like material that when it was hit with storm energy it expanded and reflected the magics.
Made from the ore in the ground of Kvari, melted down and mixed with tree sap. The sorcerer would then expel their own magics into the material. Leaving them with a arcane infused blanket of sorts.
These coverings were put across cave mouths and hung from branches to form a covering. When the storms came the blankets would react and seal the areas, protecting those within.
Once the storms had passed the blankets would return to its limp form. They are not easy to replicate as the the magic woven into them has to be from a lightning sorcerer and the sap from the trees in the eastern forests.
Some have tried to replicate them with other sources of magic but alas it hasn't yet been successful. The other factor that is oftern overlooked is the size of them. It seems the blankets are at their most useful when they are made smaller.

Really cool idea, I like the idea of lightning being harnessed/deflected in this way. For expansion, it'd be interesting to know exactly how it works - for example why does sap from the eastern forest in particular need to be used? Does it have a particular property?
