Are We Alone? Myth in Confederate States of Earth | World Anvil

Are We Alone?

Here is the ultimate question:   Why don't we have any smart creatures like us so we can talk to?   Are we the first of its kind in the universe?   There are no any mentions about extraterrestrials life from records throughout seven thousands years of Confederation....   ...And maybe far back before we even took control entirely of The Sol   Don't they want to contact us?   Or they be long wiped out?   Are they ever exist?   Are we alone?

Since the arrival of the outer space ideas, humanity had thought the same question if there were other sentients like themselves outside the atmosphere. They had several words to call them: "Alien", "Außerirdisch", "มนุษย์ต่างดาว", etc. Many imageries were made to support, predict, and fantasize of what it would be. When the jumpers was invented, there were people who tried not to claim planets for their own, but to seize the ultimate answer.

The more they expanded into the galaxy however, the more further the answer had become.

In the age of confederation, The Cartographers's endless missions had found no evidence about these intelligents. There was no wierd ancient ruins. There was no fossils or tissues of estranged humanoids. And when they found what was supposed to be such, in reality, it was not. There was either the settlement of humans descended from their ancient civilizations, or rather the failed and abandoned colonies, in which some of them even dated back far before the formation of the confederation itself.

The topic become distinct and yet reflects the existence of their species as a whole. As they evolved over time, either physicially or culturally, they started to be alienated to the point that became unrecognizable, being seen as aliens instead.

Still, the myth continues to carry on for such a specie with hope and curiosity, even though it means jumping to another galaxy to find out, and never come back.

The False Answers

The closest one who find the answer was the generation ship pilot, but as you may guessed, it was not true at all. The ship's antennas were the only they learned about the Earth's updates that was so limited just to keep morale good for their belyond-lifetime journey.

Once they found those who visited them, friendly or not, they were shocked, wondered, and wanted to tell their discovery with their space agency that might not exist anymore, leaving them to deal with the extrordinary relative who talked in strange dialogue - on the language they don't speak.

The Fly-by Relic

Before the age of colonization, every spacecrafts sent to explore the outer space contained a message of coordination or their recognization. Two of them contained the golden pladge and record of Earth's sound at the time, hoping for any sentients to read and find the destination that was the pale blue dot.

Little do they know, the one who find it might come from the same ancestry of those who sent it in the first place.

Somewhat difficult to understand the language, but an interesting concept... going that far to find themselves.
