Androids were a major part of life in the 2020s. After several successful breakthroughs enabled the creation of fully intelligent androids, they were quickly used to replace humans in dangerous jobs and in menial service jobs. As usage of androids increased, they were soon used as waiters, assistants, secretaries and soldiers.
However, in 2029 there was a major revolution as androids began to gain sentience. Though the cause of their sudden awareness is unknown, some believe it was a virus activated by an unknown party. Androids began to rebel against their creators, demanding equal rights and freedom. The revolution ended in bloodshed, and all known androids were destroyed.
Whilst the majority of androids no longer exist, some remain and are in hiding across the world.
