Greater Elemental Tail:
Prerequisites: Kitsune race, Any “-tail” trait that grants elemental damage to natural or metallic weapon attacks, Character level 10th
Effect: A number of times per day equal to ½ the number of tails you have(minimum 1), Add one dice to your “-tail” feat damage for every 2 tails you have, up to a maximum of +4d6 at 8 tails, to one natural or metallic melee weapon attack.
Among the Kitsune who develop the innate magical power that resides within their tails enough that they become capable of wielding it like a weapon, some among them find that their elementally-charged tails began to rapidly grow in power as they age and grow more tails...such that they can soon channel mighty infernos, raging gales, and other elements into their weapons or strikes at will.
Lightning Shifter:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Fast Shifter” Alternate Racial Trait
Effects: You may now use your racial shape change ability as a swift action instead of a move action.
Special: You make take this feat again to lower it to a free action.
An ability borne out of a need to rapidly escape those who would hunt them down and poach them in ancient times, the Kitsune power of shapeshifting can sometimes be taken to even further heights by those dedicated to the craft. In the ever-turbulent political landscape of Eastern Society many Kitsune often find the ability to quickly change forms highly advantageous to them, as it lets them sneak about and eavesdrop on the unsuspecting and rapidly escape once the job is done.
Living Space Heater:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, Either “Innate Warmth” or “Innate Flamechill” Alternate Racial traits
Effects: Increase your Cold Resistance by 10. If you have “Innate Flamechill”, this bonus is 5 instead of 10.
All Kitsune carry within them an innate warmth within themselves, which often manifests as a comfortable sauna-like heat that radiates from their tails to warm the soul on chilly winter nights in their homeland. Among these Kitsune, sometimes their tails begin giving off even more heat than normal, turning the sauna-like atmosphere into a blast furnace of warmth and comfort that can beat back even the freezing Uttercold. These Kitsune are highly prized and beloved by all they meet in their homeland as walking respites from the freezing environs there, and due to their personalities which sometimes change to become a bit more warm themselves...much like their tails.
Living Air Conditioner:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, Either “Innate Chill” or “Innate Flamechill” Alternate Racial traits
Effects: Increase your Fire Resistance by 10. If you have “Innate Flamechill”, this bonus is 5 instead of 10.
Though rarer of an ability, it isn't altogether too uncommon for a Kitsune who lives in arid climates to develop an innate chill rather than the heat that others of their kind may develop in colder climes. For these Kitsune, who give off a comfortable, chilly coldness from their frosty tails, skin, and ears, sometimes this coldness begins to rapidly increase in power until they become as cold as glaciers, their tails and body so innately cold that they are often see covered in frost even in an arid desert.
Empowered Idol:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Kitsune Idol” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 6th
Effect: Any Spell-Like ability with the [Charm] Descriptor you gain from a tail power has twice as many uses as it normally would and last twice as long. Any Kitsune racial feat with “Idol” in it treats you as having one more tail than you possess, though you do not actually grow an additional tail.
Among the plethora of Kitsune who are members of the Eastern Imperium's flourishing Idol and Entertainment industry, some take so well to their idol lifestyle that their tails thrum and resonate to the tune of the songs they sing and the beats they dance to, becoming so in tune with the Kitsune they are attached to those Kitsune are able to tap into more power that lies within their tails than their brethren. These Kitsune are often hailed as the "Great Idols", or natural born idols, or simple those who take very well to the industry...regardless, they stand head and shoulders above their idol brethren.
Melodic Idol:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Kitsune Idol” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 4th
Effect: A number of times per day equal to the number of tails you have, you may make a perform check as a full round action that provokes AoO. All creatures you designate within 100ft +20ft/per level automatically treat you as one step friendlier than normal if you beat their DC(10 + Target’s HD + Target’s WISMOD). If you beat it by 5 or more, they treat you as two steps friendlier. If you beat it by 20 or more, they are all afflicted by a charm person spell.
Concerts held by the idols of the Imperium are often spoken of as being mesmerizing or beautifully hypnotizing, but for a select few Kitsune Idols who hold concerts for their dedicated fans, their concerts are truly mesmerizing. Their voices are infused with undertones of magic, and every word and every melody they let escape their lips soothes and charms those who hear them, truly enthralling those who stand in attendance and charming them magically and mundanely into diehard fans. Many revile these rare Kitsune Idols whose voices carry these powerful charms, hailing them as undercover agents of Tamamo, sent to control her populace, but these rumors often never get much traction at all.
Disarming Idol:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Kitsune Idol” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 8th
Effect: Against any creature that has been affected by a spell with the charm descriptor cast by you, had its attitude towards you raised forcibly by a racial feat’s effect, or who has been the target of at least 2 CHA based skill checks made by you in the last 24 hours, you may make and maintain a performance check as a full round action that can last for up to a number of rounds equal to the number of tails you have. Each round it is maintained, make a charisma check at a +5. If your total check beats the target’s DC (10 + Target’s HD + ½ Target’s WISMOD), they fail to notice any damage you deal them that round. Initiating the performance is a full round action, but maintaining it is a move action that does not provoke AoO. You may deactivate this ability at will.
A closely held secret among the Kitsune Idols of the Imperium, there exists a technique developed by those cute, beloved idols to truly enthrall those who attend and hear their concerts...their voices are infused with powerful mind-bending charm and magical power, so much so that as they stand upon the stage singing their beautiful song, their audience becomes so enthralled that they become incapable of even realizing or paying attention to anything else...even their own bodily health. In this way, rumors of legendary Kitsune assassins who enthrall their targets with their voice and bring death while they can't resist abound around the Imperium, but believed to be little more than boogeymen...
Heavy Metal Idol:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Kitsune Idol” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 8th
Effect: A number of times per day equal to 1/3 the number of tails you have(Minimum 1), you may make a perform check against every creature you designate within 30ft. (DC10 + Target’s HD + ½ Target’s WISMOD) If you beat the target’s DC, they are deafened for 1d4 hours and stunned for one round.
Though idols of the Imperium often favor beautiful, melodic tunes that are catchy and designed to please the ears with their gentleness or unique melodies, rare is the Idol who prefers the screaming, yelling, and power behind more Heavy-Metal concerts. Their voices like thunder and screams like lightning, these Idols hold a very different sort of concert for their fans...and when they choose to, their mighty voices are even capable of booming so loud that they can shatter the eardrums of their foes and rattle their minds, deafening them and stunning them from the sheer power of their vocal cords.
Idol’s Charisma:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Kitsune Idol” Alternate Racial Trait, Any two or more“-Idol” Racial feats, Character level 8th
Effect: Gain the effects of the “Leadership” feat, with the following differences. You cannot take this feat if you already possess “Leadership”, and this feat does not stack with “Leadership”:
- Your cohort may be up to 1 level lower than you, rather than 2.
- Your cohort automatically fails any and all charm spells cast by you, and is never immune to charm effects even if they normally would be so long as they originate from you.
- Your leadership score cannot be subtracted from for “Moves around a lot” as it normally would be.
- Your leadership loses no points for “Aloofness” as it normally would.
As popular as the Idol Entertainment industry is within the Imperium, it comes as little surprise to many that many of the fans of the industry dedicate their lives to their favorite idols, traveling to all of their concerts and buying all of their items...so fanatically in love with their beloved idols are some fans that they gladly flock to their Idol's banner and become their servants or companions. Assisting them in their travels either out of a mad desire to serve the object of their affection or perhaps simply an admirer of their work who seeks employment, the Idols of the Imperium are highly skilled, moreso than most, at attracting followers thanks to the widespread nature of their fame.
Professional Masseuse:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Tail Masseuse” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 4th
Effect: All dice are doubled for the effects of “Tail Masseuse”. You now only need to spend 5 minutes with the chosen creature.
Seeing as how immensely popular and well-renowned the fluffiness and softness of their tails are, it comes as little surprise to many that Kitsune are beloved and highly sought out for the chance to experience the right to be embraced, held, or simple massaged by their tails. To some enterprising Kitsune who particularly enjoy playing the role of masseuse(Be it for business or pleasure or otherwise), they in time develop their craft and become even better and relieving the worries and stress of their clients or customers, such that they become capable of massaging damaged muscles, fractured tendons, and even damaged minds back to full health like miracle workers.
Vestiges of Service:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Tail Masseuse” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 6th
Effect: A number of times per day equal to ½ the number of tails you have, you may remove one condition from a creature within 60ft of you that you have used “Tail Masseuse” on within the past 24 hours. Using this ability is a standard action that does not provoke AoO.
Special: For the purposes of all Racial Feats, this feat is treated as having “-Masseuse” in its name.
For the truly masterful Kitsune Masseusers, the art of the massage becomes a thing that does not end once the simple act of physically relaxing their client...so long as the memory of the experience remains fresh in the minds of those they serve, they learn how to ease harmful conditions from their former client by evoking the memory of that pleasant massage. It is a highly prized technique for many reasons, mainly because it utilizes an odd form of hypnosis and psychology to use the memories of the service to elicit very real change in the body.
Saintly Masseuse:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Tail Masseuse” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 10th
Effect: You may now heal 1d6 Ability drain OR 1 Negative level when using the “Tail Masseuse” Alternate Racial Trait, determined each time you use it.
Special: If you have the “Professional Masseuse” Racial Feat, the ability drain dice are doubled as well.
The secret art of those Kitsune who truly enjoy relaxing the worries of others away, these Kitsune "Saints" are veritable grandmasters of their craft, capable of returning lost memories, removing decayed and even vanished muscle mass, and returning the near-dead to life and vigor. For this reason, these Kitsune are highly sought after for their prowess, and often run highly exclusive massage parlors where they generally serve only the most elite customers or, as is their right as grandmasters, sometimes serve entirely only those who they wish to depending on their whims. Even royalty from far distant lands often travel in search of these masseurs, it is said.
Revivifying Ride:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, Two or more “-Masseuse” Racial Feats, Character level 14th
Effect: You may automatically revive a creature that has died in the past 1d10 days by massaging any part of their remains in your tails for at least 5 minutes. This effect functions as if you had cast Resurrection on them.
A truly mighty secret of the Kitsune masseuse craft and a technique considered the pinnacle of the artform, the Revivifying Ride is a technique that fuses the nigh-mythical skill of Kitsune Masseurs with the divine might of Tamamo herself, allowing these rare and highly skilled Kistune to quite literally return the recently dead back to life by merely embracing the body in their tails and paying the appropriate monetary cost...often, the ability to return the dead in this way is seen as a divine gift from Tamamo, and considered a blessing by those who are returned through this way, often becoming followers of the Kitsune Queen in the process.
Furtail Strangler:
Prerequisites: Kitsune race, “Tail Grappler” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 6th
Effect: You are treated as having the Strangle and Smother universal monster rules. You also gain the “Constrict” Universal monster rule starting at 1d8 + STRMOD damage. You gain one extra die for every 2 tails you have above 2 tails.
A technique born out of the insidious backroom dealings of the Kitsune Nobility who desired a way to more easily dispose of their political enemies in subtle ways, this insidious technique allows a Kitsune to use her tails which are already highly suited for grappling to wrap around the throat and fill the mouths of their target, silencing and smothering them in absolute quiet. In this way, Kitsune nobility can slowly strangle the life out of their political opponents in secret, even while dealing with other nobility...unknowing of the creature slowly strangling to death within their furred grip.
Master Tailgrappler:
Prerequisites: Kitsune race, “Tail Grappler” Alternate Racial Trait, Character level 10th
Effect: Gain a racial +4 on all CMB and CMD checks made to grapple and escape a grapple. Gain a cumulative, stacking +2 bonus to all grapple checks for every tail you have. You take a -10 instead of a -20 to hold the grappled creature in your tail(s) without being grappled yourself as per the “Grab” universal monster rule.
Not all Kitsune are creatures of nobility and class. Some eschew this lifestyle to live more simple, monastic existences as monks within the numerous monasteries that decorate the lands of the Eastern Imperium. These Kitsune, often in possession of numerous tails, in time learned to use these tails to assist them in their monastic training...and soon, learned how to become truly terrifying grapplers and monks. Their tails darting out like snakes with a mind of their own, they can deftly wrap up several foes in their hands and tails, subduing all of them with surprising ease.
Master Conduit:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, “Tamamo Conduit” Racial Feat, Character level 8th
Effect: You may regain a spell slot of up to 4th level instead of up to 2nd.
Special: You may take this feat up to two more times. Each time raises the max spell level you can regain by 1, to a maximum of 6th.
Among the already rare "Tamamo Conduits" that are sometimes born into Kitsune families, there are those among them who inherit several shards of Tamamo's divine power, their tails often taking on a blinding radiance as they become capable of tapping into Tamamo's power directly to restore their own sorcerous might. Even moreso than their lesser conduit sisters, these Kitsune almost exlusively exist as mighty Heads of Houses and incredibly powerful politicians in charge of hundreds and even thousands of subordinates.
Blinding Beauty:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, Character level 10th
Effect: Any enemy creatures or creatures you wish that are within 30 feet of you and have line of sight to you, and look directly at you must pass a DC (10 + ½ HD + CHAMOD) Fortitude save or be blinded for 1d8 hours. Any creature, once it fails its save, cannot be affected again for 24 hours. You can affect a number of creatures with this ability equal to (1 + CHAMOD). A creature who cannot be blinded is not affected by this ability.
Powered by the divine sorcerous power of Tamamo, some Kitsune, who are already widely considered creatures of grace and beauty so much so that many often call them blindingly so, embrace their beauty and learn to wield it like a weapon. With a bit of charm and a flash of divine energy from their tails, these Kitsune flood the senses of those who gaze upon them with power and render them blind...often, those Kitsune who harbor this ability consider it a privilege to gaze upon them in the first place, and often blind those who do so against their wishes.
Political Finesse:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, Character level 4th
Effect: Gain the use of either of the following spells as spell-like-abilities, usable UP TO (2 + CHAMOD, Maximum 8, Minimum 1). The First Row only use one such use of these charges, while the second row each use up 2 uses.
- Detect Evil, Detect Good, Detect Law, Detect Chaos
- Discern Lies, Zone of Truth
Often used as a derogatory term for these Kitsune who focus and hone their innate magical prowess until they become capable of utilizing several spell-like abilities to signify their "Political Prowess"(Lack Thereof) that they need spells to do their work for them...but nonetheless, none can argue with the effectiveness of the abilities they gain.
Magical Tail: (REPLACES PATHFINDER STANDARD “MAGICAL TAIL” FEAT)
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race
Effect: You gain one more tail on the Kitsune Tail Table. You still cannot ascend beyond eight tails this way using this feat.
Special: You can take this feat more than once.
With their number of tails directly correlating to societal, magical, and even physical power, some Kitsune spontaneously sprout new tails as they grow in power, growing them practically overnight.
Black-blooded:
Prerequisites: Kitsune race, Character level 4th
Effect: When you are hit with a slashing or piercing weapon, all creatures adjacent to you must make a Reflex Save (DC 10 + ½ HD + CONMOD) or take 1d6 acid damage OR 1d6 cold damage(Chosen at the beginning of each day), taking half as much on a successful save. This ability does not trigger on self-inflicted hits. For every four HD above 4 you gain, you gain an additional die to the damage of this feat.
Considered a curse, 'the curse of black blood' is a trait that generally only manifests in Male Kitsune, though it has been seen in female kitsune on occasion. Believed to be a curse passed down through the Kitsune species from Tamamo's once-mighty child, the legendary warlord whose name has been lost to time(or forgotten intentionally)...he is said to have fallen into savagery during the Unification war and embraced the slaughter and death that reigned supreme during such a time that he became an unstoppable engine of destruction, and ascended into a mighty Asura who had to be sealed away forever. Those that bear this curse are considered to have received his "blessing", and his blood that was said to be as black as tar and turned as deadly as acid, stained and corrupted as evidence of his infinite crimes.
Ancestral Shard:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race
Effect: You are treated as if you had the “Bardic Knowledge” class ability as a bard of your level, using your Character level in place of the Bard level. You also gain +3 to resist all mind-affecting effects. This bonus increased to a +6 if it comes from a divine source.
Rarely, a Kitsune is born who finds themselves capable of tapping into the knowledge of those who have come before them...much like the odd Ghoran or the Elves, these Kitsune access a sort of "Genetic Memory" that contains knowledge from all the past lives they have lived, granting them a vast store of knowledge from which to draw on.
Freezehallow Cryptkeeper:
Prerequisites: Kitsune Race, Character level 6th
Effect: By wrapping a corpse in your tails for 1 minute, you may cast Speak with Dead on it as a caster of your level +2. The save for the corpse to resist the spell is increased by +2, though this bonus goes down to +1 if the creature was immune to charm effects during its lifetime(or unlife, if it was a sentient undead immediately prior to dying). You may also cast Sanctify Corpse as an at-will spell-like ability, though your tail(s) must be in contact with the corpse to do so.
Special: This feat counts as having “-Masseuse” in its name for the purposes of all feats that require one or more “-Masseuse” feats as Prerequisites.
A trait that manifests exclusively in those rare Kitsune chosen to serve as keepers for Freezehallow Crypt, where the honored Kitsune dead are said to be entombed when they shuffle off their mortal coil and return their soul to the reincarnation cycle. Here their bodies lay, ever-unrotting, ever-preserved, so that all may remember them...buried especially deep within the sprawling catacombs is said to be the rare Kitsune who have finally forgone the cycle and gone to their final death...those that spend their time in this hallowed place guarding their honored dead become so in-tune with the dead and spirits that they become capable of talking to them as they wrap them in their tails, giving their body a semblance of life to converse with them once more. These Keepers are greatly revered and highly honored by their kin.
