Lamia Alternate Racial Traits

Thick Scales: Gain a +2 natural armor to your AC. Replaces Advanced Charisma   Some lamia are born with thicker than average scales, and many patches of scales appear on their back, arms, and chest where no scales are supposed to be. Due to this quirk of birth, they are more resilient than the rest of their kin, but a bit less charismatic due to their odd appearances.

Humanoid Form: Gain the 'Change Shape' Universal Monster Rule, allowing you to take on the shape of a specific Medium-Sized Humanoid Creature, which stays the same across the times you take it's form. This change does not alter your ability scores, is a swift action to adopt and drop the form of, and you can remain in this form indefinitely. This is a supernatural effect, and otherwise functions as an Alter Self Spell. You cannot use any racial abilities that would no longer work in this new form, typically losing the use of your tail as most use this trait to take on a humanoid form with legs. Other forms may lose other abilities at the GM's discretion. Replaces Weapon Proficiency.   Born with the ability to disguise their forms and take on the shape of a smaller more normal humanoid, these Lamias commonly use this ability to disguise themselves as creatures such as Humans or Elves either to better fit into their new societies or to disguise themselves while on the hunt.

Lamia Prodigy: Gain the following spell-like abilities, with a caster level equal to character level and with Charisma as the main ability modifier. You must have a charisma of 14 or higher to use these abilities:   1/day: Charm person, Detect Poison, Magic fang   Replaces Tail Attack and Constrict   Some lamia have a small talent for sorcery, and are born with innate magical powers as evidence of some long-distance source of magical might in their bloodline or in one of their ancestors. Magic pumps through their veins, and they are a constant reminder of some powerful lineage the Lamia people possess.

Lamia Chosen: Gain two additional arms and hands, which may be used to wield weapons and objects but are treated as off-hands. Only one hand is a primary hand, as normal. You qualify for the multi-weapon fighting feat. Replaces Swallowing Bite and Constrict or Natural Predators and Alluring Beauty.   Rarely, there is born a Lamia that is one of a chosen, rare few amongst their kind birthed with additional arms, openly viewed as a living blessing of the gods and one who is destined for greatness among their people, who revere strength and beauty above all else. They almost universally rise to positions of power within their tribes and villages, yet some see such lives as beneath them, and venture out into the world to spread their glory and beauty to all who will witness it. To these lamia, combat is an art, one which they seek to perfect in all forms, including beauty and spectacle...and they showcase their art in the blood-stained corpses they leave behind them.

Lamia Twintail: Gain an additional tail, which grants you an additional tail natural attack, both of which count as your primary natural attack. You qualify for the multi-attack feat. If you would gain other primary natural attacks from other sources than the Lamia race your tail attacks count as secondary natural attacks. Replaces Swallowing Bite   Even rarer than the odd Lamia born with multiple sets of arms, there is a Lamia born once every few decades that possesses an additional tail, able to manipulate and control it just as well as if it were the one most of their kin possess. These Lamia are seen as direct emissaries of the gods by others of their kind, who see them as the pinnacle of beauty and strength their kind can attain. Capable of manipulating both tails independently, these lamia are tough foes to fight and even tougher to negotiate with, the nature of their tails meaning they can attack from many sides at once while the pampered, frequently spoiled nature of their upbringing inflates their egos greatly, leading to a natural belief that all other life is simply 'beneath them', and better off as slaves. There has been records of the odd Twintail that has forsaken such pampered, spoiled lifestyles within their tribes and ventured out into the world, intent on proving their beauty and strength to the world and themselves. Though they are less proficient with gulping down oversized prey, they are equally fearsome for their ability to hold many foes at once in their grasp, and control the field of battle... They have been known to hold those unfortunate enough to cross them within their massive tails until they suffocate and expire, the force of their constriction enough to pulverize stone and flesh alike.

Serpentine Grappler: Gain the 'Grab' Universal Monster ability with your tail attack(s), but if you instead choose to only use your tail to maintain the grapple so you do not gain the grappled condition, you instead only take a -10 to grapple the target instead of a -20. *Creatures with the 'Grab' Monster ability gain a +4 on checks made to start and maintain a grapple. You cannot take this trait if you replace your tail attack. Replaces Swallow Whole and Swallowing Bite OR Natural Predators and Expanding Jaws   Due to the Lamia people's worship of the virtues of strength and beauty, their society believing that only through superior size, might, or beauty is one fit to lead others, it comes as no surprise that those who are seen as capable of ruling would be innately capable of defending themselves. The way of the Serpentine grappler was born of Lamia Matriarchs who saw the swallowing, devouring, and digesting of others as crass and disgusting, instead preferring to hold and crush their enemies within their massive tails until their wills were crushed. As such, the Lamias who are capable of such ways are terrifying foes, as they have mastered the ways of holding a struggling foe within their tail with little effect on themselves, even in the heated midst of combat they are known for keeping enemies trapped within their tails until such a time as they may deal with them with no distractions.

Sadistic Charmer: Any creature you deal constriction, swallow whole, or natural attack damage to takes a -5 penalty to all attempts made to resist your magical charm effects, and any charisma-based skill checks made to persuade, bluff, diplomacise, etc...gain a racial +5 bonus to the roll. This effect lasts a number of rounds equal to (1 + 1/2 CHAMOD, Minimum 1), and this effect cannot stack with itself. Once a creature has been affected by this power, it cannot be affected again for 24 hours, starting from the point the effect ends. Replaces Weapon Proficiency   While not all Lamia adhere to their race's inborn savagery, ferocity, and desire for live prey, those Lamia that embrace their inner predators and relish in the thrill of the hunt quickly find themselves learning and adapting to the best ways to inflict pain, suffering, and agony upon others in such a way as to ensure that, with each broken bone, bite, or acid burn they dole out to their victims in their stomachs, their victims feel nothing but enjoyment. Capable of forcing the activation of their prey's pleasure response during attacks, these Lamia afterward, if their prey yet lives, find their prey much more pliable and receptive to their wishes for a time afterwards, until their bodies reset to normal.

Primal Digestion: You heal 1d8 per 2 HD a creature you successfully reduce to 0 or below HP with Swallow Whole possesses. You may stockpile these healing dice for up to two hours, at which point they are lost. You only gain the benefits of this ability once a day. Replaces Alluring Beauty   A rare mutation amongst those amongst the Lamia tribes who partake often in the swallowing and consumption of live prey, Primal Digestion, as it has been dubbed by the Lamia people, is seen as proof of one's ancient heritage. Allowing for them to heal each time they digest a creature for the day, the Lamia that possess this mutation are frequently only encouraged to make use of it by gorging themselves on prey and meals, their wounds and flesh knitting back together at a wondrous pace, and healing more the hardier the eaten creature was. However, there are always exceptions to the rules, and Lamias are no different. There are some amongst their kind who receive this mutation and see it as only a curse, their less-hostile, predatory natures meaning such a gift is wasted on them...such Lamias frequently have self-esteem issues, and leave their tribes in favor of loneliness, so as to not disappoint their kin.

Desert Bandit: You may always act in the surprise round when one exists, and gain a racial +2 to initiative. Replaces Swallowing Bite   Being cold blooded serpents, the Lamia tend to favor warm climes...and, combined with their sometimes predatory and hostile natures, it is not an uncommon sight to see many Lamia end up in the great southern desert as bandits, leading the many kobolds, humans, and other such races who turn to a life of banditry as bandit queens of the sands, their bodies favoring the hot climate of the south as they ambush and rob passers-by. Ironically, these Lamia, owing to the unspoken law of the desert to rob, thieve, and steal without death, rarely kill or swallow their foes whom they rob, and instead hone their reflexes and bodies to better get the jump on their foes and better develop themselves as warriors and fighters, finding homes in the sands of the southern desert far removed from their bloodthirsty, hyper-predatory kin who relish live prey, instead living more subdued lives of banditry and normality by comparison.

Fearmonger: Gain a racial +4 to intimidate skill checks, you may add your CHA instead of STR to such checks, and it is always a class skill for you. Replaces Expanding Jaws   A vestige of their barbaric, predatorial hunter-gatherer lifestyles long ago, some Lamia are born with an innate talent at fearmongering, and, with the knowledge that other races fear them for their hostility and predatorial natures, prey upon such base instincts in those they speak to, and are much more capable at evoking fear in them. For these Lamia, fear and terror is the most effective of the hunter's tools...a tool that lets one cow lesser beings and even greater ones into submission, avoid otherwise annoying situations, and put those who deserve it in their place...and they know they are masters of such a tool.

Master Diplomat Gain a racial +2 to Diplomacy, Bluff and Sense Motive, and one is always a class skill for you. Replaces Natural Predators   A sign that the Lamia of the current era are perhaps finally shifting away from their predatorial natures and learning how to truly integrate with society, Some Lamia that enter the civilized world find themselves strangely capable in the realm of politics and diplomacy, their innate beauty, wiles, and sense for emotion strangely useful in sussing out the intentions of those they speak with. Capable of skilled verbal sparring, these Lamia frequently join political groups, senates, and other ruling bodies in the Coalition where most of them call home, while those amongst them who live as bandits in the south use such talents to become leaders of massive bandit empires in the sands, and some even find themselves leading villagers as chieftains.

Draconic Affinity: Treat their charisma score as being 2 points higher for all sorcerer spells and class abilities if you are a Sorcerer with the Draconic bloodline. If you are a cleric with the Scalykind domain, treat your caster level as +1 for all domain powers and spells. Replaces Swallow Whole or Tail Attack   A trait exceedingly rare in the current day and with each passing generation, Draconic Affinity hearkens back to the supposed mythological origins of the Lamia as the offspring of those brides who bedded a dragon, the child instead coming out as more dragon than human. These Lamia find themselves closer to their mysterious Draconic heritage, though far, far removed from the likes of the Dragonborn, who they are barely, distantly related to. Instead, they find themselves simply a bit more in touch with the ways of sorcery and divinity if they following certain paths or bloodlines. These Lamia frequently leave their tribes behind to seek out the mysteries of the dragons whom most among them see as parents or guardian deities...many among them find themselves living amongst the normally reclusive and enigmatic dragonborn as treasured sisters, finding surprisingly welcoming homes amongst the Dragonborn in their desert villages and mountain communities as they join their new kin in the search for the ancient dragons they call ancestors. They are also frequently scholars and thinkers, their natures, and personalities, much more akin to dragonborn than the Lamia. They are thinkers, and burn with an insatiable curiosity about knowledge, magic, and history…

Scalewars Lineage: Gain Hatred and Ancient Foe against Humanoids of the Human subtype, granting a +1 to attack rolls against such creatures, and a +2 dodge bonus to AC against monsters of that type and a +2 racial bonus on combat maneuver checks made to grapple creatures of that type. Replaces Weapon Proficiency OR Advanced Charisma.   The history of the Lamia people is a long and storied one, and though most of the lineages that can trace their roots back to ages long past have died out, some yet persist. These lineages and Lamia lines recall the ancient Scalewars fought between their ancestors and the High Humans, where their kind were said to have once ruled the entire western continent and lived as queens...these Lamia contain an inborn hatred for Humanity for ruining the greatest time their people ever knew, and seek them out above all other races to devour, crush, and kill.

Massive Jaws: You can swallow creatures of up to your size with no penalty. Replaces Weapon Proficiencies and Expanding Jaws.   Though Lamia are known for their large jaws that can expand to swallow prey even as large as themselves, some take this a step further and become even more adept at swallowing large prey, their jaws expanding with deftness and ease to swallow even the largest prey like nothing.

Slithering Menance: You gain a climb speed equal to your base land speed +20ft and a racial +4 on acrobatics checks. Replaces Natural Predators.   Capable of using their long, slithering bulk as true snakes do, some Lamia learn how to use the natural serpentine shape of their bodies to slither up walls, over obstacles, and up sheer cliff faces with a speed unrivaled in most other Lamia.

Belittling Beauty: All charm and compulsions spells cast by enemies within eyesight of you take a -2 on their DC. This does not affect saves for such spells already affecting a person(Such as making a new save to resist being made to do something you wouldn't normally do thanks to a charm or dominate spell). Replaces Alluring Beauty.   Though most Lamia wield their natural beauty like a finely sharpened dagger to better conquer and warp the minds of their foes, some Lamia use their beautiful bodies to denigrate and belittle those who face them so that the magical effects of their foes have a harder time charming and enacting compulsions upon them or their allies, using their own beauty to lessen the desire to obey their foes.
