The Ballad of Old King Hlodvi
A ballad for the greatest of all the Giant Kings
VERSE 1
Where once the blizzards madly whipped, Where giants roamed beneath the moon, There lived a giant with mighty wit, and body that towered and loomed. With wit so sharp and wisdom vast, With blade mighty and true, Hence he went and brought at last, Peace to giant and drinks to you! Yet though he warred and fought like mad, Yet though he spurned the land, Old King Hlodvi a friend never had, 'Till peace he made with dwarf and man!VERSE 2
So did Hlodvi find his brother, So far beneath the rocks and stone, Thangoradrix the ageless other, Last of Dwulvor's kind alone. The bonds were strong and friendships deep, The mountains thrummed and sung, Yet soon the end did come and all did weep, As Thangoradrix was 'ere undone. Unraveled fast and sunken down, Unraveled to a watery grave, As Krakenshelm did sink and drown, Old King Hlodvi wept like a knave.VERSE 3
Alone was he and bereft of friend, Alone again and doomed to mourn, Yet soon did come the end again, On back of horsemen four. The sky did crack and turn bright red, The Daemons came and Hyldrin too, Bent on death and making us dead, Crushing us all sure and true. And so did Hlodvi rage again for sake of his friend now dead, And off he charged to fight and off he went to war, Alone he warred and fought Hyldrin, 'Till he was consumed and died upon the floor.-An ancient tale of the greatest giant king to ever live, often sung in taverns, bars, and inns by drunken customers.
