The Company of Astrim

The Company of is a force consisting of exiles from the southern barony of Astrim. Originally followers of Kallis Baron of Astrim they survived his defeat and death at the hands of King Ostrow. Under the leadership of the later Baron's daughter, Tangra the soldiers fled north of the Spine to escape Ostrow's forces. Since this time they have worked as a mercenary bands in the lands around the windy Sea. They have spent the last four years fighting for various leaders in the lands east of the Windy Sea. Over time, northerners have joined the band and the force includes hundreds of camp followers, mainly the families of the soldiers. The company is a mixed unit consisting about 100 cavalry, 300 heavy foot and a hundred archers.

Weaponry

The cavalry typically wear full or three quarters plate, carry heater shields. They fight with lances, long swords and battle axes. The foot soldier carry 12' spears, a variety of secondary weapons and use large kite shields. The archers generally have mail shirts, open faced helms and carry short composite bows and short swords as their weapons.

Vehicles

The company employ numerous light, two wheeled wagons pulled by mules or horses to transport their supplies, tents and other equipment.

Structure

The unit is under the overall command of Tangra of Astrim, who is generally referred to as the commander or the general. Beneath her are five captains commanding companies of one hundred, and a quartermaster.
