Turres
Population 8,000. Widely considered the most heavily fortified city in Wallen. Turres was built on a flat hilltop and then had stout walls built around it. The city only has two approaches, a steep stone staircase going up the city’s south side and a well-engineered road that climbs the hill with a series of switchbacks. In case of siege, the Baron of Turres has a large supply of incendiaries and boulders to roll down the hill at any attackers. The towers are also well equipped with artillery engines. The current Baron is the Grand Constable of the Kingdom and an enthusiast for military engineering. His three sons have all been trained as warriors and his three daughters are all sorceresses. The Baron maintains a well-trained force of 200 professional soldiers and has a trained militia of 800 he can put on the walls.
The city is a center for trade in wool and liquor. The city also has an unusual number of weapons smiths. The city itself is a tightly packed warren of narrow streets. Because of the lack of space for growth buildings up grown up, often climbing to four or five stories and overhanging the narrow streets.
Demographics
The city is primarily Northron Human with perhaps 10 percent of the population being Corgerian. A few Danite and Dark Corgerian families also dwell here.
Government
The Baron has direct control over most aspects of local government. He provides security, maintains the local infrastructure and runs the local court.

Industry & Trade
The city is known for its many fine weapons smiths. It's biggest export is the local Rye liquor known for its strength.
History
The city was established some 400 years ago as a frontier defense post. It quickly grew into a town and ove rthe next two hundred years expanded to cover all the available space on the hilltop as it evolved into a small city.
