Algebar

The planet Tufsur in the Algebar system has many thriving colonies, but it did not escape the ravages of the Portal Wars. The world was heavily bombarded then, and it has left the populace xenophobic, and the police state set up by the ruling Firstcome Emirs in the aftermath persists to this day. Not all was lost during that bombardment, though, because the Tufsur Emirate is still one of the few places with a working Founder manufacturing center - they can make a living fabric that provides all of the protections of a modern exo shell. The Paru corporation of the Consortium wants control of these manufacturing centers, and their own private troops as well as a regiment of Colonial Rangers have set down on Tufsur to seize them - but the Emirs have not gone down quietly. The ongoing low intensity conflict has been called the Silk War. On Adan, the second planet in the Algebar system, is the vast Portal Builder object that has been colonized as a city called Turtusah. Even with the colonists, the vast structure feels empty. At the heart of Turtusah is a strange mechanism that the colonists call the Abacus Rocks. So far, the Silk War hasn't spilled over onto Adan, but the Paru corporation does have a ship in orbit above Turtusah.
