Gotó Diez
Growing up on the streets, Gotó was constantly searching for a way out. Something that would rescue her from her life of poverty. She discovered the net and learned that she could easily make a living online.
As her knowledge grew she found exploring the net to be exciting and she was always looking for interesting data. She would dive into unknown networks just for the chance to look around; and if there was something she could use, all the better.
Then, one day, she was in a dive and came upon a peculiar system. It was unlike any she had seen before and what’s more, it was moving. Almost as if it was another data spider but it was definitely a system.
It was remarkably easy to dive the system, almost as if it wanted to grant her access. But when she was in, she was assaulted by data. Wave after wave washed over her mind and for one brief moment it was like she was everywhere at once. But just as she was getting over the shock of the onslaught, she was booted out of the system and off the net. The force of the disconnect knocked her unconscious.
When she awoke, she felt a tingling in her jaw and her computer was fried. The room in which she lived looked strange. Almost as if she was still connected to the net. The tingling in her jaw persisted and she uneasily got to her feet in order to check herself in the mirror.
When she saw her reflection, she recoiled in fear. The lower right side of her jaw was gone. Almost as if it had been deleted. The edges were pixilated and flickered in the dim light. She reached up and touched her face. She could still feel her jaw with her hand but she could not feel her hands touch with her jaw.
She grabbed a nearby lamp and shattered the mirror. As the pieces flew across the room, they wavered and blurred as if she was watching them through one of the old computer terminals. She quickly donned a veil. She then vowed that she would find that system and get back what it had stolen.
It was a year before she was able to repair her computer and by that time the system was nowhere to be found.
Fast forward to today. She refuses to take off the veil claiming that she does not want anyone to see her as she is. She also avoids mirrors and highly reflective surfaces.
