Melik

The Melik system is solidly under the control of the Zenethian Hegemony, though the old power bases of the Firstcome have not been diminished by Zenethian rule. From the city of Harmous, which has one of the largest spaceports in the Third Horizon, the Zenethians have spread their control through the system. With them came the corporations of the Consortium, and the Legion - which maintains a destroyer in the system at all times. On the surface of Melik itself are radiation spires. Often invisible, they suggest vast portal builder artifacts deep within the planet.

The planet Melik has two predominant space stations. One is the commercial station, Hafaza. With Melik having become a major trade destination, Hafaza allows large bulk transports to dock in orbit, and have their cargoes ferried to the surface by a flotilla of shuttles that make the trip daily. The other is the Horizon's End temple, which has held its position in the fifth Lagrange point since early Firstcome times.

The Chambi nomad clans claim the moons of the blue gas giant of Jibri. On the moon of Jaco, they jealously guard the entrances to the Scar of the Spider. Generally avoided by everyone, this valley of gray stone spears is said to be the home of a steel arachnid that strikes terror into even the stoutest explorer. Other legends tell of a glass coffin located somewhere in the vale, wherein writhes a dancing and whistling enigma.
