Dreadnaught

The dreadnaught was the most feared ship in the days of the Koan Armada. These ships were built to take on entire navies, and were good for little else. Most Dreadnaught crew members were stranded or executed after large confrontations while a skeleton crew carried the ship toward the next battle. In the era of the Alliance, most dreadnaughts have now been decommissioned.   The ships were originally conceived by Scalfi engineers following the destruciton of Tyrant as spacious arks for displaced Scalfi communities. The Undying empress commissioned famous Scalfi shipwright, Moska, to lead his engineers in construction of the ships. However, she later coopeted the project to create the infamous warships.   Dreadnaughts became the most feared piece of the Koan Armada, often sporting Sagitarius Mortars capable of levying enitre cities in a matter of hours. They were thought to be impregnible until one of their original creators, Anh Edonia, sank one with the help of Jim Kestrel's crew. The event marked a major turning point in the rebellion against the empire, mostly as a symbol that the almighty Koan Armada was not infallible.   After the fall of the empire, many Koan dreadnaughts still sailed amidst the remnants of the Koan Armada. The Corsairs were originally formed, in part, to dispatch these behemoths, and among the early members of the order there was no accomplishment greater than to follow in the footsteps of Anh Edonia and sink a dreadnaught.   In a strange twist of fate, a group of corsairs in the present day--none other than our heroes in the Party--inadvertently acquired a dreadnaught called The Nomad. Given how many components had been stripped from it and had its hull shrunken to hide its true nature, the ship was unrecognizeable as the timber behemoths in the state they bought it. But after taking the ship to none other than Moska himself in hopes of selling it, they learned the Nomad's secrets. Ever since, they have taken advantage of the ship's uncanny potential for expansion by collecting dreadnaught fir to expand the Nomad back to its true size. Whether the last dreadnaught will ultimately fall into the hands of evil or forge a new legacy for the maligned vessels, history has yet to decide.
