Professor Halle

Professor Halle is an infamous professor working for the Homyn Academy's College of Oddities. He is the leading authority on the Progenitors, having authored the book Progenitors and Progeny. At some point in creating his magnum opus, Halle went mad, causing many who already doubted him to challenge the legitimacy of his work.   He continues his work on the progenitors outside the Academy, purportedly befriending Nasser Graham after the Homyn monarch took up an interest in astronomy. With Nasser's help, Professor Halle completed his second great work, the Progenitor Atlas, a map that identifies the location of Progenitor ruins that may lead to their homeworld, the Orphan Sphere.   However, Nasser Graham disappeared before Professor Halle could complete the atlas. His successor, Jin Bei, hired Simon's mercenary crew to escor the professor and his atlas from The College of Oddities on Trys to Lion City. Professor Halle's mental state by this time had severely deteriorated, with him often speaking nonsense and mistaking Simon for Nasser Graham. Eventually, his ravings attracted the attention of pirates, resulting in the loss of their ship as well as the Atlas.   Luckily, Jin Bei was able to save Simon and Professor Halle, taking the latter to live in a secret room in the Homyn royal palace. Simon later reunited with him when visiting for Princess Halle's nineteenth birthday, but was not able to get much information from him.   After the surfacers of Lion City made peace with King Kaloo and his underground mutants, Professor Halle wandered below the city to reach out. It seemed he shared a similar wavelength of madness with the mutant king, and the two get along famously.   When the Party last visited Professor Halle, the companionship seemed to have done him some good. He was able to explain two entries on the Progenitor Atlas: The Armory, which was reported to hold a weapon more powerful than a Hyperion Bomb; and the Forge, which was capable of building ships that could sail past the Rim. Professor Halle warned the party against freeing an entity who lived in the Forge called the Forger, a warning that they ultimately did not heed when they completed their quest on Jotun.
