The Weathervane

The Weathervane is an alchemical and meteorological laboratory located in central Nimbus. It was founded by Alyn Arkades in an effort to uplift the Moku people by providing them artificial clouds to block sunlight, which petrified them over long exposure due to the Helioschosis bacteria living in their skin. Originally starting as Professor Arkades' passion project, the laboratory gained legs when one of his pupils, Shiobhan, lent a substantial portion of her family fortune toward its funding.
After many years of research, the scientists at the Weathervane successfully produced three Cloudheads that could be artificially controlled using alchemy. This breakthrough ultimately earned Alyn Arkades a position as Count of the newly-annexed moon. However, that accomplishment proved short lived after the Moku successfully rebelled against the Homyn, leaving only a skeleton crew of scientists and members of the Lunar Brigade stationed at the Weathervane while the Homyn withdraw from Nimbus.
