17 - An Unexpected Return

When last we left our heroes... another chaotic day for the group, starting with Jordan returning aboard the Mucky Duck to the lower city docks. While gathered in what was supposed to be a private location (the deck of the ship), Papa G and the Black Sparrow appeared just feet above the group. A brief exchange of words, checking in on Ailonora occurred. Ty and Ace attempted to hide, but Papa G seemed to know where they were at all times; Papa G added that Lord Azaar wanted to speak with Ty, and upon hearing this, Ty bamfed himself onto the High Street Gambling Ship. Ailonora bargained with her father and agreed to a meeting in Deros in a fortnight [yes, Cat, I now know that this is 14 days]. Another bout of chaos ensues when Ty bamfs back to his previous location (hanging off the side of the ship), loses his grip, and slips into the water. Unable to swim, the group is now faced with the challenge of retrieving Ty from the water. Ailonora jumped in after him, Hollis summoned Mamador into the water (in his fae form - covered in vines and moss), and Ace threw a cask of rum into the water. Eventually, Manofthedoor majestically lifts Ty and Ailonora from the water and onto the dock. Safely back on stable ground, the group decides to make a move to (potentially?) Trigseer. Red, Captain of the fishing vessel "Mucky Duck" requests 24 hours for resupply and to outfit the ship for travel across the sea. Red also informs the group that the journey will cost 2000 GP. While provisions are being readied, the group (minus Ailonora) heads to Guard Captain Velkan's office for various reasons. An absolute dumpster fire of a combat ensues, and the group (minus Ailonora) finds themselves surrounded by the slain bodies of the guard. Ty put the final blow into Velkan, and took an ear as proof to return back to the Thieves Guild. - Meanwhile, Ailonora has been wandering the city in search of an item... It is here we resume...

  The Black Sparrow:
  • Captain: Captain Sissy Ontario, a powerful druid with a majestic sea hawk familiar, proper, well-spoken, and calculating, master navigator and respected captain, previously cut her teeth sailing a ship on the north seas hunting pirates
  • Papa's Bodyguards: [Elf Name], athletic, imposing frame, short dark hair, short scarred ears, and an iron chin; [Elf Name] - patchy, blonde hair, silent with a steady smirk and piercing eyes
  • First Mate: Basil Blatherington - shiny bald head, pointed nose, and quietly obedient
  • Engineer: Chief Tykava Petra - war braid, extremely intelligent and resourceful, crude

  • A sleek, black oblong ship, shaped similarly to a normal sailing vessel, but with no real front point. The Black Sparrow is a pleasure vessel, built for the sole use of Papa Ferrinor. The ship is fast, nimble, and lightly armored. The ship does have some formidable weapons, but those are currently tucked into ports in the hull of the ship.
  • The dark, wooden deck of the ship is about 30 feet wide and spans about 90 feet in length. The rear of the ship rises slightly in elevation above the rest of the deck, where a series of levers and handles rest at the apparent console of the ship.
  • A small ramp heads down beneath where the captain's station is, leading to the mid decks, engine compartment, and crew area.
  • The sides of the ship are about hip-high and are formed much like the gun rails of a modern ship.
  • The ship is floating about 20 feet above the water; there does not appear to be any sort of wings, sails, or another device like the Cloud Dancer that would indicate how the ship is staying aloft. There is a faint hum of very powerful magical energy aboard the ship.
  • While moving, the ship cannot be seen from below.

  • 50 GP - Reward for information leading to the arrest of thieves and criminals who have stolen items from the Hall of Heroes
  • 300 GP - Reward for the return of "Fancy Man" William Theodore Porter, III [200 GP - dead]

  • 10 GP/day - New crewmembers aboard the Sea Sprite, a mercenary ship hunting ice pirates in the north seas.
  • 1000 GP - Reward for the return of a missing girl; last seen boarding an airship in Vitall; return to the local branch of the Free Merchants
  • 6000 GP - Adventuring party requested; to investigate the disappearance of a treasure-hunting group on the eastern island of Harreach; the group is two weeks past their expected return
