Redcap Battlefield

You stumble across a half-rusted sword, hidden in the tall grass. A few feet later, there is a shield half-buried in the earth, still clutched in a skeletal grip. Looking around, it becomes clear that this area is littered with the remnants of some long-ago battle. Or perhaps not so long ago, given how fast the plants grow on this plane.
Enough of the bodies might remain intact for you to guess their race, or the flaking paint on the shields might resolve themselves into the devices of two rival courts. They may or may not be symbols you recognise—the courts to which these fighters belonged could have wiped themselves out of existence in the years since this struggle took place.

Geography

Redcap battlefields are most often found on the open plains of Faerie, where there is space for larger armies to clash. The scale of the bloodshed is what allows the generation of enough redcaps to form a band, rather than one or two.

Fauna & Flora

This is a place of the dead, but death is not the only thing you will find here. Among the wreckage of splintered spears and downed chariots, bands of small fey, looking like undersized gnomes with red hats and iron boots, have made their home. These are redcaps, and they are looking for blood.
Driven to kill by the need to wet their caps with blood, redcaps are inclined to cut you to ribbons first and ask questions never. If you happen to stumble upon them when they have killed recently, though, they might be capable of listening to reason.
