Hypergeometry, what is it?

Every culture on Earth has its belief in “magic”—a force that exists outside the world, which can make amazing, dangerous or terrible things happen. Delta Green specialists long ago labelled this power “hypergeometry,” due to its frequent association with numbers, mathematics, position, and shapes. Like the inhuman angles of ██████ and the warping of dimensions which flings the minds of the █████ ████ ██ ████ through spacetime, hypergeometrical techniques alter reality. Some say such techniques were passed down from the █████ ███ ████ that once ruled the Earth. Humans have always attempted to harness this power.

It is best to think of hypergeometry as a live circuit flowing with infinite energy beyond the four dimensions in which the human consciousness exists. Humans that alter their perception can tap the circuit, connecting with the other world, focusing that energy. Whether it is a hallucinating shaman drawing a mandala in sand, or a scientist placing lasers at points in a circle to call down something from the sky, the “math” is essentially the same.

The only difference is culture, and it is often difficult to tell where culture ends and power begins. The ritual and action matter only insomuch as they affect the mind. This means that two people can enact the exact same ritual with completely different outcomes. One might see no effect; the other might end the world. All oddities in human culture that have real power can be traced back to hypergeometric techniques. Psychic ability, witchcraft, divination, and ghosts all represent a misfocused projection of inhuman, unnatural powers.

Do not use hypergeometry, medieval metaphysics or any other system of planar manipulation that could be taken for actual magic. You will become part of the problem. Concentrate on solving the problem before the supernatural becomes your only option. If you do end up using such systems, always tell A-Cell that you did. The consequences are far preferable to having A-Cell find out later that you kept it a secret.
