Description
General
Astatus is a guardian spirit of the forest, dedicated to protecting the local flora and fauna.
Mannerisms
Astatus will likely not attempt to say much directly to a group nor most individuals. He will be
Friendly: druids, rangers, animals, and those with the hermit background
Indifferent: most passerby
Threatening: undead, aberrations, anyone carrying an open flame
Hostile: anyone actively damaging the wildlife
Exception: If its not already threatening towards the individual, it will give a warning before striking.
Astatus will not kill nor prevent medical treatment of those good-aligned. Additionally, Astatus will not attack members of a group who do not engage in the above.
Incorporeal Movement. Astatus can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.
Actions
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage.
Nature's Breath. Melee Spell Attack: +4 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (4d6 + 2) cold damage.
Possession (Recharge 6). One humanoid that Astatus can see within 5 feet of it must succeed on a DC 13 Charisma saving throw or be possessed by it; Astatus then disappears, and the target is incapacitated and loses control of its body. It now controls the body but doesn't deprive the target of awareness. Astatus itself can't be targeted by any attack, spell, or other effect, and it retains its alignment, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and immunity to being charmed and frightened. It otherwise uses the possessed target's statistics, but doesn't gain access to the target's knowledge, class features, or proficiencies.
The possession lasts until the body drops to 0 hit points or Astatus ends it as a bonus action. When the possession ends, Astatus reappears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the body. The target is immune to Possession for 24 hours after succeeding on the saving throw or after the possession ends.
