Acron
The Kingdom of Acron is a humble civilization on the coast of Wispwood. The largest (in terms of population and area) state on the forest island, it holds a large number of lumberjack villages under her reign, and the kingdom’s largest export is raw lumber. Many states are keen to keep good trade relations with her, the excess lumber being vital to Craedock’s shipbuilding and seafaring cultures.
The citizens of Acron live in a somewhat feudal society, with governors appointed by the monarchy and barons of royal descent. The military is run by landlords, each appointed, by the authority of the king, a number of royal knights to act as officers, and an allotted defense budget to enlist a militia. Unlike a truly vassalized citizenry, the people are considered “free”, unless called into service by the government or royal family, and may move freely within the kingdom’s borders.
The society works hard and plays hard, with hours of labor ending in storytelling and conversation over the day’s single meal, and months of harvest ending in religious festivals. As a result, folklore dominates a large part of daily life in Acron, with a rich culture of myth, legend, and mystery. The academics in the capital have been able to dismiss many tales as rural hysteria over sightings of magic use in the Gnomic Magocracy of Barkgull in the north, but many legends still permeate the resident’s belief system and much goes unexplained, and when true monsters do bring disorder upon the lands, glory be to the heroes who save the villagefolk.
