The Blacktalon
The longsword known as the Blacktalon was found during an excavation in Aeveron.
Appearance
The longsword's blade is of enchanted steel, pitch black in color. The hilt is golden with a large ruby in the pommel. The grip is shaped as two vines twined together as one, and the rain-guard have been shaped as claws pointing up towards the blade's point.
Abilities
The Blacktalon is of superior elven craftsmanship and therefore it can never grow dull. Even when it was found in the ruin of an elven city it was still in pristine condition, as if it just came out of the forge. The blade's primary enchantment is one that amplifies the magical capabilities of its wielder. It can also be charged with arcane energy to amplify its strikes, or to discharge as a powerful shockwave.
History
The Blacktalon was forged sometime in the Forgotten Eras, though an exact year have not been possible to establish. Upon its founding it was brought to the Temple chapter of Magehelm for further study. It would remain locked in the chapter's vault for five years. As the Lowland Uprising broke out in Aeveron the town was taken by the rebels, and their leader laid claim to the blade. The rebellion leader, Francis Lagarde, used the power of the longsword to lead his men to victory over the Aeveronian Council's oppressive rule. Francis Lagarde became the first king of Aeveron, and the Blacktalon would remain an heirloom to be passed down to the next king. Due to the Blacktalon's power being a feared weapon the Lagarde's would remain on the throne unchallenged.
