Kothic

The Koths were a barbaric people who broke off from the Vorans sometime around 400 AFR, crossing the Godshields and braving the Evergraves to settle the Vidusa Lowlands along the Physus River in what is now known as Koth. The people developed culturally and linguistically in near complete isolation on the dreary, perpetually overcast plains and in the dark forest valleys, protected by the Stonelands to the South and the Shivering Sea to the North, until they were conquered by the Voran Empire around 1800 AFR. The Koths quickly took to the austere edicts of the Voran Church and its "One God," maintaining a fervent attachment to the severe religion even after the Turning of Koth transformed the already bleak landscape into a living nightmare in which Humans are bred and slaughtered as cattle for Vampire Lord Vaekenral and his ever-hungry armies of vampires and undead. In fact, to this day the vast majority of Koths cling ever more ardently to the Vorachisms of the Church, refusing to believe as the rest of the world has realized that the One God is indeed Asmodeus, instead finding whatever solace and potential salvation they can in His grim teachings.    Due to their geographical isolation and cultural/linguistic peculiarity, the Koths mixed only rarely with the Eovoresh and Shardans. Therefore they appear quite uniform: pale, nearly white skin, ice blue eyes, and either dishwater blonde or jet black hair. Due to eons of difficult living and centuries of breeding by the vampires, the Koths are a hardy folk despite their wan appearance, and are often considered highly androgynous. They excel at healing--because of the constant act of bloodletting--and are naturally suspicious and highly superstitious.
